It's completely unsustainable and it's definitely not good for me long term.
In the last two weeks, I have been able to reorganise a decent bit of stuff which will take some of the pressure off me starting from this week and there is plans in motion to try do more although that will take some time.
Mrs Lao Lao absolutely helps, she can usually snap me out of the work buzz, she doesn't need encouragement to top up the wine glass!
Am off out west on Friday evening so it'll be Rancho Relaxo for 9 days solid with not even a thought about work.

I'm going to Mexico in November, I've been to Sligo, Limerick and Donegal - that's enough Ireland for one year.Last edited by Hectorjelly; 09-08-21, 22:59.

We bottle fed the first as the breast feeding didn't work out, and yeah sleep deprivation was a thing.
The next two were breastfed which left nothing for me to do but sleep. In the spare room too which from a selfish pov was amazing.
Poor wife didn't sleep for months though.I hold silver in tit for tat, and I love you for that

It is unlikely to happen in western democracies where people have shown themselves willing to elect populist nationalists the likes of Trump, Johnson and Orban.
Sure we should stop pumping out carbon as soon as we can but we simply cannot do that unless we find abundant sources of cheap energy, the fallout will be far worse than the effects of climate change.
We have already done most of the damage and we can only slow down the effects, this is an issue that must be addressed realistically and practically and the focus of that has to be urgent rollout of clean energy to all the world.Turning millions into thousands

I find the Greta thing to be like buying something from donedeal,
You have to aim way off the price you would be willing to pay and then negotiate back to what is reasonable.
If that makes sense.
If you asked the world to do exactly what is needed some would just do it, but then others wouldn't do a tap, and then you are only halfway to the target.
SWEDISH climate activist Greta Thunberg has been asked to 'sit this one out' following the publication of a terrifying new report on climate change, in a bid to convince climate skeptics that simply will not …

Absolutely. If data centres in Ireland are using proportionally less energy than other countries then that should be recognised as the net win it is. Or indeed, the new Chinese factory producing shoes is probably vastly more energy efficient than the original Italian factories. Should we judge China / Ireland for these net global wins, despite their domestic energy usage rising? Or what about when Nigeria, Indonesia, Pakistan, the next emerging countries start really growing. Is it fair to proscribe cheaper dirtier energy for them when Europe / US had the benefit of that cheaper energy in the past. If we proscribe it globally in the interests of the world, should we richer countries make payments to those countries to compensate?

I'm not sure what people think companies are doing, they provide people with what they want, meeting demand. So yes, people are responsible for it.
Raising prices to meet climate change costs, by making them more environmentally friendly is not au fait with capitalism, so it has to be mandated at a very high level.

Cement (not concrete) is something like 7% of CO2. There is also methane to contend with, lower cycle but more damaging.Last edited by Tar.Aldarion; 10-08-21, 17:25.

And then 10s of 1000s of companies rely on the products those 100 companies produce, meaning 10s of millions of people rely on those companies for their livelihoods. “Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, but nobody wants to lift no heavy-ass weights."
This is how I feel about trying to find a technical co-founder to work on the side thing.
Now that we have some legit paying customers, and have a really big opportunity to get it into the hands of a boat load of others I'm trying to step away from writing awful awful code and start doing other parts of the business building. I am currently in lifestyle cut mode where I'm trying to figure out the least amount I can spend in a month so I can see if giving this a year worth of full time makes sense and doesn't leave me hooped.
I am trying to find someone to take over all things development. Typical start up stuff but I'm willing to pay a salary too (nothing outrageous but not slave labour) and then vest them into equity.
Trying to find someone that makes sense not only for short term but medium term and long term too is proving absolutely impossible.
Totally not the HR thing to say but everyone capable has kids and a mortgage and a high cost of living.
Everyone incapable but hungry and with the life circumstances to take a shot is absolutely useless and would require so much management it'd be pointless.
This may or may not be an original thought of my own.
All efforts were made to make this thought original but with the abundance of thoughts in the world the originality of this thought cannot be guaranteed.

Haven't heard Kellie the boxer speaking yet or know her back story, so am trying to guess from headlines alone and the look of her what is the supposed thing 'wrong' with her. Just purely from the headlines they all seem to be written in a way that suggests that journalists feel she has some great shortcoming in life. For a supposedly neutral profession journalists seem to get a lot of their own crap perspectives into articles.
My best guess from the headlines is extreme poverty combined with lesbianism? (I think I saw a mention of a female partner).

Donegal really is different, hadn't been up here for about 20 years prior to this week and had forgotten the grandeur of the landscape. Surely the most spectacular landscapes in Ireland.
