Probably not much use for you, its just to make sure everyone is on the same starting page when they start the proper lessons. You'd never know the precise level of skills of the recruited student from some random uni in China for e.g., so do this to make sure everyone has the basics that are expected of them. It's relatively new I think. I just done Business and Sport in WIT. I had started when I was 18, dropped out, I had a few modules passed and decided to just go back at 23. I made the realisation 2 years in that it was a big mistake but finished it anyway.
TCD and DCU agreed to let me into their Finance MSc after I bigged up my work experience. Maynooth, Smurfit and UCC weren't being fooled.

I was saying about it the other day that its kind of shite, poorly written and allowing the plot to circle the drain as well being too graphic and unsubtle but Gleeson is absolutely killing it and however bad it is its well worth sticking with for a moment that I'd say is an ad lib by Gleeson in episode 5.

Its amazing how many really bad Stephen King adaptations there are, his kind of violence is just too graphic and his characters and situations do not translate to screen easily. Basically you need to be Kubrick to do him right.

I'm really enjoying it tbh. The missus is as well. I've read the source material (trilogy) and as always half the fun is guessing where it'll divert.
The adaptation thing is an oddity. I feel it's because his characters are always so fully formed and rounded, and a lot of the backstory is internal dialogue it's hard to get that nuance on the small screen.
Gleeson is absolutely knocking it out of the park though it has to be said

@Hitch and Zuutroy not sure if anyone else is in academia.

Thoughts on the value of the preliminary modules that they run for a couple of weeks.
I had mathematics, economics, accounting and data analysis.
I probably attended 70% and they were delivered in that order.
Perhaps there was a wavering interest but they seemed less and less helpful. The maths was good and the economics was ok too.
The accounting was very general i.e revenue vs profit which as Denny suggests puts you ahead of the curve anyway.

I was thinking maybe there is a better use of time than what they do with the 2 weeks. I'm assuming the idea is as much to get students to socialise especially given 70% I'm guessing is international

I've never heard of preliminary modules tbh. We start in week 1. Maybe a humanities thing?

I think "Uber" in Ireland is just another app to call Irish taxis so its not actually Uber.

Uber in London and the US will have a prearranged fee which you agree to when you call it, Uber in Ireland will not prearrange the fee, it just calls a normal taxi and goes on the meter.

Pretty sure its due to the regulations here, wish they would just work around it as it's so handy.

There's so much good maths resources online now, so as long as you want it you will learn it. I would have loved to have all the programming resourses and maths resources available to me when I was in college.

Make sure to make buddies in class as they will teach you a lot if they are good at that side of things. My brother got his second masters thanks to doing that, his bff in the class was a whizz at statistics in a very statistics based course and she taught him everything. He ended up winning best thesis of the year and for the wider department too, and has two concurrent phd scholarships, she was pissed.

It was TfL who made the decision wasn't it. I don't think it comes under the Mayors (Sadiq Khan) remit. He's a strong Blairite anyway so I don't see uber as being against his own personal political ideology.

When Uber first comes to a city, it includes local taxis in it's fleet. It was like that in Sydney until a few month ago. There's a silly amount of Uber drivers now. Even have them split into multiple tiers. (basic/select/SUV/Lux etc).
Fares aren't pre arranged though. You agree to a rate, 1x, 1.5x , etc. And you get a pretty accurate estimate, but the actual fare is based on the actual trip.

No probs at all, happy yo help try and get some people back into Poker

I watch a lot of Twitch, and have tried out most people out so will give you a quick run down on some of my favourites.

Lex: Top of the tree. Plays a full schedule of about 2-3k a day and a lot more on Sundays. Has probably put about 50k into WCOOP with very little return so it's going to be a telling month from him. Plays the day time shift so helps get that early fix in. Awesome PLO player. He's also a top gamer for Team Liquid which is where his RasZi name came from, and often plays Battle Underground, Rocket League and other Fantasy style games on stream so that would be up your street too. Gives all his thoughts on his plays and doesn't try to hold back. If he thinks you're a cnut, he's tell you and doesn't try to be MrNice because he's a Pokerstars pro. You can see his blood boil as he plays and you know he just wants to smash things but he somehoe doesn't let it affect his play. Only streams on Stars. (He's currently 5/22 in the $1k WCOOP with the top 4 being Ike Haxton, Ludovic Geilich, DonkPredator and Wruuum plus other end bosses so it's a top field, Let's see if the BBV can stretch that far!)

Tonkaaa: Another top streamer. Not as much of a degen as he used to be where he used to play blackjack for 2k a hand. Plays all of the big games across Stars and 888. Talks through his decisions a lot and adds a lot of fun. Likes a punt now and again, but he seems to really enjoy is poker. Flicks in the odd Party game, but not so much anymore since he became an 888 pro.

TalonChick: Canadian based female Pokerstars pro that plays mixed games on Stars only. Her favourite games is PLO8 so will play everyone on the schedule along with HORSE and some others. Has played the 2-7, Stud, Courchvel and other variants on stream across this WCOOP. Has Irish parents, so also has that going for her!

Lappin: Recently signed as a Unibet ambassador so plays all his games across Unibet. Plays a shorter stream than most due to the lack of attractive games on the site. Has great interaction with his followers and has fun on site. Hard not to like him!

BillPerkins: Terrible terrible players that plays high stakes cash on Pokerstars and America's Cardroom which makes for a good stream. No bother to him blasting off 20-40k in the $100/$200 games sitting on his yacht in the middle of the water. Dan Bilzerean and some hot women sometimes make a cameo appearance, as does the likes of JeffGross, the Staples brothers and Kevin Martin.

Bparis: Plays a ton of games across Pokerstars, Winamax, Party, 888 and the odd Microgaming. I bump into him in a lot of games i play, but he throws in all the bigger ones too. Prides himself on having over 10m in cashes on P5s. Doesn't give away a lot of strategy and can be a bit of a nob sometimes. Still a decent player though

JeffGross: This guy is like a car crash. It's hard to not to watch but he's the most harmless bloke in the poker world. He thinks he is the best hand reader on the planet 'e.g. This 14 big shove under the gun looks like 8s or 9s, maybe 10s or Js and sometimes AK or AQ'. Guy turns over 7s..'I meant 7s too, see how i read him. Booya. I'm on the money. I'm tuned in. Believe'...He's tilting but when deep in a game, he's good to watch for entertainment value. Don't really rate him as a player.

Fintan & Spraggy: Will pool these together as they have both recently signed for Pokerstars and do a double on the strars channel. Have good banter together and play small/mid stakes solely on Stars. Spraggy has a very dry wit and has a good repore with chat and has no airs and graces about him. Fintan (easywithaces) is a Dub that recently moved to Malta but puts a little more focus on promoting his and his gf's social channels than poker or chat.

Others: Used to like watching The Poker Devil, Doug Polk and Jcarver but none of these stream anymore. Jaime Staples/Matt Staples/Kev Martin are all so media and recreational driven that i can't watch any of them. None of them seem like very likeable people and it's all about selling themsevles.

Timex is fantastic when he streams, and would be top 3 if he did it more often. Very intelligent and interesting player but it's been a long time since he streamed too.

These are all MTT players (bar BP). Xflix is one of the better cash game players and playes $500 Zoom. There's a Russian guy that plays $2/$4 HU PLO that i flick on now and again but it's all in Russian so i have no idea of his thought process.

Also keep an eye on the Partypoker Twitch channel. The Sam Trickett $100/$200 PLO has been running super deep and splashy lately. Last night for instance, Aussie Matt was sitting with $450k, RobYoung has $150k, Trickett had $100 and Isildur had less. When LooseLeon gets in the game he'll win or lose 300k too.

For poker, i don't think there's a lot of money in streaming itself, but it's a channel that helps open up a lot in terms of sponsorship etc. It's usually coupled with youtube and is a long process to start making some money. It's $4.99 to sub to a channel (which actually gives you not benefits) but i'm not sure if any poker players have over 2k subs. The likes of Jaime Staples plays ads every hour, has advertising for poker related products etc.

For gamers though, it's a different story. Whereas the top poker players can dream of having 5k viewers (it's rare to get more than that unless the top 3/4 run really deep in something big e.g. Lex has almost 8k now) top gamers have up to 50k viewers on a regular basis.

Depends on the person, have no idea what viewr numbers are like for poker but take the gamer I watch most, shroud. He would make 100k a month from people subscribing to his channel, gets money from each of the 40k people watching the ads on his stream and then gets huge amounts of donations a day in the order of thousands. Obviously as you go down to the less popular people it becomes harder to make a living.

There are Saudis on twitch that go around dropping 20k donations to streamers for fun, motar2k must have donates hundreds of thousands at this stage. Then again one of the number plates on just one of his cars cost 6 million..



For poker I guess a lot of people don't focus on learning about one guy in particular, they hold stuff back, they have a delay on the stream, they may even lie. As they are getting money for playing poker by default it probably helps out with variance, and gives them sponsors, not that all the ones above probably need any help and just like doing it.

The National were absolutely amazing on Monday night in Vicars Street. They played lots of stuff off the new album early on which didn't go down well I guess because it is slower stuff but the album has also only been out a week so hard for people to really be engaged with it

First time they played Pink Rabbits which is one of my favorite songs off the newer albums. They proceeded to blast though a set of pretty much all of my favorite songs. I Need My Girl, This Is the Last Time, All the Wine, Slow Show, Pink Rabbits, Sleep Well Beast, England, Fake Empire, Bloodbuzz Ohio, Mr. November,The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness and Terrible Love to finish.

It is such a pity more people don't get to see them in such a setting. They are one of the best bands I have ever seen live in such an intimate venue while having seen them at bigger events I have always been disappointed. I was with a load of people who are all huge fans and everyone around us seemed massively up for it. Matt was in great form while doing the usual trouble soul act constantly leaving the stage in a rage which only added to the atmosphere. Emotionally and physically drained afterwards.

My aunt (and godmother), 65 years old diagnosed with lung cancer today, just spoke to her and she is so scared, my heart goes out to her. She will know more on Monday but indications are that there is nothing they can do for her.
She lost her only child, a son, to suicide in 2000, the sight of him with an otherwise healthy body lying cold in an open coffin at 19 years old still haunts me. First husband left and she only got remarried to a lovely man 5 years ago and moved into a lovely apartment overlooking the sea.

The National were absolutely amazing on Monday night in Vicars Street. They played lots of stuff off the new album early on which didn't go down well I guess because it is slower stuff but the album has also only been out a week so hard for people to really be engaged with it

Saw them on Sunday, solid contender for gig of the year for me. Saw Roots Manuva the night before which was a very different vibe but good fun

I watch a lot of Twitch, and have tried out most people out so will give you a quick run down on some of my favourites.

Lex: Top of the tree. Plays a full schedule of about 2-3k a day and a lot more on Sundays. Has probably put about 50k into WCOOP with very little return so it's going to be a telling month from him. Plays the day time shift so helps get that early fix in. Awesome PLO player. He's also a top gamer for Team Liquid which is where his RasZi name came from, and often plays Battle Underground, Rocket League and other Fantasy style games on stream so that would be up your street too. Gives all his thoughts on his plays and doesn't try to hold back. If he thinks you're a cnut, he's tell you and doesn't try to be MrNice because he's a Pokerstars pro. You can see his blood boil as he plays and you know he just wants to smash things but he somehoe doesn't let it affect his play. Only streams on Stars. (He's currently 5/22 in the $1k WCOOP with the top 4 being Ike Haxton, Ludovic Geilich, DonkPredator and Wruuum plus other end bosses so it's a top field, Let's see if the BBV can stretch that far!)

Tonkaaa: Another top streamer. Not as much of a degen as he used to be where he used to play blackjack for 2k a hand. Plays all of the big games across Stars and 888. Talks through his decisions a lot and adds a lot of fun. Likes a punt now and again, but he seems to really enjoy is poker. Flicks in the odd Party game, but not so much anymore since he became an 888 pro.

TalonChick: Canadian based female Pokerstars pro that plays mixed games on Stars only. Her favourite games is PLO8 so will play everyone on the schedule along with HORSE and some others. Has played the 2-7, Stud, Courchvel and other variants on stream across this WCOOP. Has Irish parents, so also has that going for her!

Lappin: Recently signed as a Unibet ambassador so plays all his games across Unibet. Plays a shorter stream than most due to the lack of attractive games on the site. Has great interaction with his followers and has fun on site. Hard not to like him!

BillPerkins: Terrible terrible players that plays high stakes cash on Pokerstars and America's Cardroom which makes for a good stream. No bother to him blasting off 20-40k in the $100/$200 games sitting on his yacht in the middle of the water. Dan Bilzerean and some hot women sometimes make a cameo appearance, as does the likes of JeffGross, the Staples brothers and Kevin Martin.

Bparis: Plays a ton of games across Pokerstars, Winamax, Party, 888 and the odd Microgaming. I bump into him in a lot of games i play, but he throws in all the bigger ones too. Prides himself on having over 10m in cashes on P5s. Doesn't give away a lot of strategy and can be a bit of a nob sometimes. Still a decent player though

JeffGross: This guy is like a car crash. It's hard to not to watch but he's the most harmless bloke in the poker world. He thinks he is the best hand reader on the planet 'e.g. This 14 big shove under the gun looks like 8s or 9s, maybe 10s or Js and sometimes AK or AQ'. Guy turns over 7s..'I meant 7s too, see how i read him. Booya. I'm on the money. I'm tuned in. Believe'...He's tilting but when deep in a game, he's good to watch for entertainment value. Don't really rate him as a player.

Fintan & Spraggy: Will pool these together as they have both recently signed for Pokerstars and do a double on the strars channel. Have good banter together and play small/mid stakes solely on Stars. Spraggy has a very dry wit and has a good repore with chat and has no airs and graces about him. Fintan (easywithaces) is a Dub that recently moved to Malta but puts a little more focus on promoting his and his gf's social channels than poker or chat.

Others: Used to like watching The Poker Devil, Doug Polk and Jcarver but none of these stream anymore. Jaime Staples/Matt Staples/Kev Martin are all so media and recreational driven that i can't watch any of them. None of them seem like very likeable people and it's all about selling themsevles.

Timex is fantastic when he streams, and would be top 3 if he did it more often. Very intelligent and interesting player but it's been a long time since he streamed too.

These are all MTT players (bar BP). Xflix is one of the better cash game players and playes $500 Zoom. There's a Russian guy that plays $2/$4 HU PLO that i flick on now and again but it's all in Russian so i have no idea of his thought process.

Also keep an eye on the Partypoker Twitch channel. The Sam Trickett $100/$200 PLO has been running super deep and splashy lately. Last night for instance, Aussie Matt was sitting with $450k, RobYoung has $150k, Trickett had $100 and Isildur had less. When LooseLeon gets in the game he'll win or lose 300k too.

Harsh on Jamie Staples No?! I agree with you on Kevin Martin he's a sap. I like watching Lex and was a great score tonight but Tonkaa is my favourite.

Talon Chick.was great during WCOOP but not enough mixed games for her to play usually. She's good to watch though and can pronounce my name so that's an extra point!
