Dont think I could skip lunch in fairness. Well, maybe on an easy work day. Currently taking note of everything I eat, even a spoon of mayo etc and managing portion size better than before. Halved my booze intake this week which was easy enough given was working during the week.
Still probably too many cals consumed in alcohol format I think so will review this next week.
Keeping reasonably active too for health and fitness so that's an extra burn off of calories.
Definitely had a bit of a hungry feeling at lunchtime in work as only had a tuna bap and 2 east peelers.
I was joking with my workmate that when I was a kid I would have all my sandwiches eaten before lunch on school trips and be looking longingly at the others as they tucked into theirs.
She took pity on me and gave me a rice cake

Sounds interesting, sort of like wifi mesh, where adding more devices improves the strength of the network.

I was thinking about blinds earlier actually. I like the idea of automated roller blinds. Up with the alarm clock. Down at sunset kinda thing.
Cheers for the offer, but unfortunately because all of the windows in the apartment are also sliding doors that we go in and out of. I don't think don't suit roller blinds.
I have vertical blinds now, not sure if they suit automation as easily. Not sure though.

Good job on the weight loss and more importantly feeling healthy after it.

Unfortunately for James Bennèe (as he likes to be called) he was dead serious when making it and at its premiere in the Emmet Tavern years ago he got extremely annoyed at the people rolling around the floors laughing.
It still gets an airing every so often in my local where a lot of the cast would drink.

                  Next Social Welfare, then Revenue?

The Department of Health has confirmed it has been victim to a ransomware attack similar to the one which targeted the Health Service Executive (HSE) on Friday.

Am I the only one in the country to think the HSE are crazy to keep on with the We'll never pay a ransom shite?

I've huge sympathy for management and the IT people but shit happens and to some small extent it will turn out to be their own fault. If it was feasible not to pay then they would be up and running already. Just pay the man his money and get live again tomorrow.

Afterwards you dust yourself down and tighten up your IT systems consider it an expensive and humiliating lesson.
These attacks will continue as long as those who run them can get paid so easily and without consequence.
There is a strong case for delegitimising anonymous cryptocurrencies that are designed with no other use case than allowing criminal launder money anonymously.

It is up to the EU, US and anyone else who has leverage to go after Putin -no one runs scams like this without him getting his cut - and other operators as long as they don't face consequences the problem will grow. Keeping the HSE in chaos for weeks because of some moral high ground posturing isn't going to help anyone.

Apart from 2 pints of the finest Guinness in Kate Kearneys after climbing Carrantouhill 2 weeks ago. A worthy exception to be sure. It is exactly 1 month to the day since I've had a drink after Lazare posted here about his own drinking habits. Amazing what a small conversation and thinking will do to change a habit you fall into. Feel better, less sluggish, sleeping better, not eating as much shite that goes along with booze and football is back so hopefully I can shift the weight with training back on.

So in short. Thanks Lazare and best of luck with things.

                            Yes, that's exactly it.

There's a vertical blind motor in development, we had one but discontinued it. It's a difficult thing to get right with the multi functions.

Should be available towards the end of the year if it's something you do want down the road.

Roller blinds can work out well on sliders too though.
I hold silver in tit for tat, and I love you for that

I think SP had the most on the money comment.

It's had a really amazing effect on my running. Am in total control of my heart rate now. Never had that before. My resting heart rate dropped by 10 beats too.

Am up and out the door at 6.20am five days a week now.

Good for nothing but bed at 10.30pm each night though.

Just back from a nice 2 hour walk in the mountains. Beautiful day, loads of people out and about, everyone in great form. Family BBQing in a lay by ...me looking over hopefully at the burgers! Probably too many out and about for my liking but was grand all the same.

Was up there yesterday in the pissings of rain only bumped into 1 person walking a dog.

What defi is trying to do is cut out a vast amount of the bureaucracy that has been built up around the handling of money and finance (the borrowing and investing of money). This bureaucracy exists primarily to extract benefits rather than add benefits.

defi aims to remove this bureaucracy and allow a free movement of money and finance. The proposed benefit is this is (1) cheaper finance, and (2) more convenient and better-administered finance.

There is no inherent reason why a centralised system could not do the same as what defi is trying to do, except that an incumbent system never wants to give up its ability to extract value. That includes central banks which get resources and power from managed that system.

Isn't a substantial portion of the costs KYC/Compliance/AML. I can't image that defi will be able to just go around that.

That's actually a really good question.

Certainly on the left, Palestine is the cause celebre that seems to resonate above all others. Certainly since apartheid was defeated. No other international cause seems to get the same traction - not the Uighurs, not the Yemenis, not Ukraine, not Syria. We even had those two prize useful idiots, Clare Daly and Muck Wallace, rushing to stand up for the mass murderer Assad this week.

I'm fairly sure it's not generally anti-semitism, although you do get the odd whiff of unconscious bias off some commentators. Up to and including the inevitable Godwinism.

Actually this would be a fun counter-factual. Imagine Israel unilaterally withdrew from the West Bank tomorrow. Who would replace them as the bogeyman of international affairs? Would it just be kneejerk anti-Americanism? Or something else?

Peter Schmeichel also against a Russian side but failed to keep Man Utd in it.

I could never breathe any other way when all out ever since . Was hard work with the swimming . Breathing really is important. Through the nose keeps it regular . My very amateur experience.2 cents .

I can't imagine progress in that will see much of a drop in the amount extracted out by traditional finance. Not least as they have no incentive to improve themselves and implement cost saving measures.

Was just looking tonight at how defi has creating these liquidity pools in crypto trading. Its not a new idea, but the scale of how it has been developed and adapted to create new trading markets is fascinating. The innovation is all happening there, and even if it hasn't become mainstream yet, something will emerge because that's where all the innovation variants are being seeded. On the other hand, AIB can't let me register my revolut account as a regular payee account as its not an Irish IBAN. I refuse to believe they are that bad in personal banking and amazing at business banking. And maybe investment houses are amazing, but I'm not so sure. Elite traditional banking is a very narrow genepool and they don't hire for innovation.

I read about a technique a couple of years back of breathing with your diaphragm, again with the goal of maximising volume. I think I still do that, I'm not sure.

No other country in the world gets the same pass that they do for despicable acts.

Ever politician is scared senseless of criticising Israel for being the shits they most certainly are. The campaigning against anyone who criticises Israel on anything is brutal - so why would any politician invite that into their life in order to protest the killing of the kids of nobodies.

                                                                                                  1. You have localised protests in Jerusalem - stone throwing, headbangers on both sides dong headbanger things. But it is primarily a policing action and not by any means a militarised one. Remember that this is the West Bank (full of illegal Israeli settlements), where the Palestinian Authority is under the control of Fatah (not Hamas). Nothing is going on in Gaza, whereas Hamas rule and there are zero Israeli settlements.
                                                                                                  2. Hamas (and Islamic Jihad) - both Iranian backed proxies - fires hundreds of rockets at Israeli cities from Gaza. These rockets are carefully concealed among the civilian population of Gaza.
                                                                                                  What do you do?

Now imagine you are, say Angela Merkel. Or Ursula von der Leyen.

Surely there must be a solution other than land mines of continuous and tenuous cease fires. Then Hamas pull the tails of Israel and Israel overreact as they predict and more Innocents are killed. The lack of compassion for children and Innocents on both sides of this leaves me feezing cold in any empathy to Hamas or Israel stances
I remember as a kid being taught by a KillyBegs RA head for 3 years. Through him I was fuelled with anger at the atrocities committed by the Brits throughout our history , however once the IRA started bombing innocent people , I lost any respect for them as a legitimate force. Don’t get me wrong I still believed in the cause (sue me) BUT I had no faith or support in the route they took to carry it out. The bottom line is , if you are killing innocent ordinary people. You are WRONG IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE

Should be available towards the end of the year if it's something you do want down the road.

Roller blinds can work out well on sliders too though.
I’ll keep and eye out for it. I imagine it’s quite awkward to get vertical automated blinds right. All the poxy little gear boxes and cords.

Rollers could be ceiling mounted to avoid stacking doors. But the issue is awkward trying to go through the doors with the blinds down. First world problems.
