First time in Vegas( used to casinos and how they operate) and going with X amount of gambling money which is totally separate to everything else and if I loose I loose, plan for the worst and hope for the best.
So for some reason think I need bring this in dollars.
All advice is welcome.
If it's in the order of thousands, I'd find a better way than carrying that much cash for an extended trip.

But where is best to buy??
Load up lots of cash on your credit card. i.e. put it into the black by more than you think you will spend
Withdraw cash from ATMs in Vegas. No fees and a far better FX rate than buying over the counter. Should be able to withdraw $600+ daily."We are not Europeans. Those people on the continent are freaks."

I've moved from them to Travelex SuperCard. 1.9% for any ATM transaction, but no pre-loading necessary, it just auto-debits whichever card you link it to.

You should also be angling for a free room while you're at it, but might be a bit late at this stage. If you're staying in either a Total rewards or M Life property definitely get a rewards card and make sure to put all of your spend on it (eat/shop in the hotels as much as possible) as well as your gambling hours. Next time you're going you'll get plenty of offers for free rooms (depending on overall spend of course)

I was reading earlier about one if the weigh lifters getting his medal taken away for testing positive for strychnine, aka rat poison, also lethal to humans. I've no idea what he was taking it for, but remember reading about it being given to runner mid race in one of the early Olympics. I dug up the race report from wiki. It's a bizarre read, sounds like something out of a carry on movie.
The first to arrive at the finish line was American runner Fred Lorz, who had actually dropped out of the race after nine miles and hitched a ride back to the stadium in a car, waving at spectators and runners alike during the ride. When the car broke down at the 19th mile, Lorz re-entered the race and jogged across the finish line. Hailed as the winner, he had his photograph taken with Alice Roosevelt, daughter of then-U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, and was about to be awarded the gold medal when his subterfuge was revealed. Lorz immediately admitted what he'd done and said he had only been joking; the AAU responded by banning him from competition for life (although they reconsidered and lifted the ban a year later).
British-born Thomas Hicks of the United States ended up the winner of the event, although he was aided by measures that would not have been permitted in later years. Ten miles from the finish Hicks led the race by a mile and a half, but he had to be restrained from stopping and lying down by his trainers. From then until the end of the race, Hicks received several doses of strychnine sulfate (a common rat poison, which stimulates the nervous system in small doses) mixed with brandy. He was supported by his trainers when he crossed the finish, but was still considered the winner. Hicks had to be carried off the track, and might have died in the stadium had he not been treated by several doctors.
Another near-fatality during the event was William Garcia of San Francisco. He was found lying in the road along the marathon course with severe internal injuries caused by breathing the clouds of dust kicked up by the race officials' cars.
A Cuban postman named Andarín Carvajal joined the marathon, arriving at the last minute. After losing all of his money in New Orleans, Louisiana, he hitchhiked to St. Louis and had to run in street clothes for the event that he cut around the legs to make them look like shorts. Not having eaten in 40 hours, he stopped off in an orchard en route to have a snack on some apples, which turned out to be rotten. The rotten apples caused him to have strong stomach cramps. Despite falling ill from the apples he finished in fourth place.
The marathon included the first two black Africans to compete in the Olympics: two Tswana tribesmen named Len Tau (real name: Len Taunyane) and Yamasani (real name: Jan Mashiani). They were not in St. Louis to compete in the Olympics, however; they were actually part of the sideshow. They had been brought over by the exposition as part of the Boer War exhibit (both were really students from Orange Free State in South Africa, but this fact was not made known to the public). Len Tau finished ninth and Yamasani came in twelfth. This was a disappointment, as many observers were sure Len Tau could have done better if he had not been chased nearly a mile off course by aggressive dogs.

Also wiring the money to one casino doesn't limit you to playing in that casino either. You just get it in chips, can cash the chips at a different cashier and go to whatever casino you want.

I spend a lot in the restaurants granted, but the rooms are easy enough to get comped, anything over that is pretty tough.
Didn't think through the bolded part mind you, but now that you post it it makes perfect sense of course.
*except NYE, I had to pay for that night on my last trip.

Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino
Flamingo Las Vegas
Paris Las Vegas

they also have link ups with Starwood for example, so you can earn Total rewards points on stays with the Starwood group etc.
Cardsharks point is right about "history" though, it's all done on calculations of how much you're likely to spend on any given trip so it may only be of use to you next time around, i.e. get your membership, eat/gamble as planned and then you may get offers for your next trip.

Last couple of weeks have been rough with the mother passing.
The healy Raes turned up at the funeral despite never meeting my family or i before. Had to laugh when I pointed this out to the brother and he said "sure it's not a proper funeral without the Healy Raes boys!".
Back in US now to wrap up things, as only have a week left, then back to Ireland for four weeks or so. Waiting on visa before booking flights to Australia. Crazy amount of flying and paperwork involved, don't think I ever seen so much, good though as keeping my mind busy.
Have to say I owe so much to my mom though. She was the one that refuse to send me to the deaf school in Dublin when I was a kid despite everyone else recommending it so many times. She felt I needed to be able to deal with other people in their terms. The number of hours/days/weeks/months She spent with me as a kid helping me to learn to understand sounds, speak and interact with other was unreal. It was a very isolated/hard childhood in a way for me as I was very introvert, so I owe pretty much everything to her that enable such a great life I am currently living. Honestly can't put down enough words to do her justice. No beast so fierce but knows some touch of pity, but I know none, therefore am no beast.
