Had an interview on Monday, this came up. Denny gave me a perfect answer and got to use it. Also had a few responses on here to good/bad projects in the news lately. You are able to contribute 5,500 CAD a yr into this account, anything over is penalised heavily. Here's the rub, your contribution can be in a myriad of asset forms and ANY gain on those assets from the contribution date is tax free. It has 5yr limit, so a 27,500 max contribution.

If I have understood it correctly, I am struggling to think of a downside, or a better account to gamble the shit out of it / Invest in long long term compounding assets when young and responsibility free. Can anyone be devils advocate? Obviously if I lose the loot I have no Tax Free Savings account for the rest of my Canadian life (which could be the same as my actual life, or a minor subset...depending).

Yeah a lot of Canadians use those for low risk investments which is lunacy, you're massively incentivised to gamble it up particularly when young in order to maximise the tax free benefit.

You'd have to consider your future plans, income & gains in it may be tax free in Canada, but if you are resident in Aus, Ireland or elsewhere it may still be taxable where you're resident.

That said, my aus visa hasn't been approved yet (pretty sure my potential employer is imcompetent) and I've taken up employment here with a pretty sweet company who are aggressively growing from Canada/US into Aus and Europe (the dream is alive). I'm also nailing a pretty hot Canadian bird and snowboarding every weekend.

Canada is sweet for now, and if my visa does ever come through I'll cross that bridge. Its a strange situation altogether.

Chromecast is slick but hdmi lead with wireless keyboard and mouse is the best setup imo

Get the Chromecast and plex app for android. This plays anything you have downloaded on your computer plus your photos and home videos. It also runs in the background so you can continue to use your phone/tablet. Netflix etc also play from android straight Chromecast.

you want netflix on the tv, then chromecast is 100% the best option. it turns your tv into a smart tv, that its!

Since I got the new laptop, life is easier as when I go to a movie file I now have the option to send to LG tv. same with phone , tablets etc. just send to. Download the chromecast and Netflix apps on your phone, click play on your Netflix app and cast to the tv.
The chromecast is a great little piece of kit.

Possibly stupid question from a relative noob. If i switch off when i'm mid downloading torrents, will it continue from where it left off when i open up the program again? (using Tixati), and will it be an uninterupted view or will i notice where it was downloaded in 2 or more parts?

From what I understand about torrenting (i've been doing it for about 10 years) is that you download many different parts of a file from many different seeds.
Your client pieces them altogether.

So to answer your question - if you pause downloading and then restart - it'll make no difference to your final file.
