1st of all Meath have the big heart
2nd - had a great night on the booze tonight with Dice
3rd - didnt enjoy the poker after has to be said.
Took a big chunk out of the SE and then went to the Jackpot when the SE kicked us out. Was up pretty decent in the jacpot too when I got it all in v a shorty. My bag of bollix v his middle set. River gets dealt and I claim top set. he throws cards towards dealer and I go to muck until he cops this and lunges over to turn over his cards. Fair play I dont make a deal about it because its only 40 quid. He then proceeds to go south and carry on. Nobody says anything but I just stand up and leave because Im not arsed dealing with that kinda scum
I then go outside and ask a taxi man will he bring me home for 20 euro (normally costs 22) but he insists on having the meter running saying he will give me 10% off. Despite him trying to go every back arse way and stop at every green light he can only get the fare up to 16.50. This really pissed me off but I throw him 20 anyway because Im sound like that.
I gotta go ut more Dublin is great craic.
Also have Waterford and Emop pad fo thanks to live dublin fishes calling 300bb pots with 4th pair "ah unlucky mate, just a cooler sher you had to go with that"

Besides all that though this is actually the best thing that could have happened to Mick Wallace and Boyd Barrett. They will do absolutely nothing in the dail, will do nothing for the country or their constituencies either but now they can make hay about this non issue. Congrats to themYou are technically correct...the best kind of correct

Originally posted by Teddie View PostAs for your second point, possibly the most ridiculous thing I have read in a long time.
Ten years ago a now failed bank spent tens of thousands to get me in to do an urgent job for them, they were spewing money by the minute until their problem was fixed. I arrived after a very long journey and went straight to the site from the plane, got set up and started working. I was wearing a suit or jacket and trousers as I normally would but no tie. A senior manager who walked by called up the guy I was working for and had him make me go out and get a tie. Like the Dail those boys had their priorities right.
There is a huge point in what Rasta said about the management in modern successful companies having discarded the fancy dress for work. I don't know if there have been any serious studies done but I'd be shocked if there wasn't a relationship between success and dress code in recent years.
Originally posted by Kayroo View PostFirstly, my profession has had the same basic dress code since 1750 so you really think my take on this is surprising?

Originally posted by Kayroo View PostThe day Mick Wallace does a stitch of work for Wexford or Ireland is the day I'll take his position seriously. As for calling me elitist you're totally out of line. People wear suits to the Dail because it is our national parliament where our elected representatives go to do our business.
I still don't get why a suit helps them work better or show more respect?
Do you think that somehow wearing a sharp suit made Ray Burke or Charlie Haughy respectful Parliamentarians?
Originally posted by Kayroo View PostAs for calling me elitist you're totally out of line. ...
Oh and by the way, the politicians are there to serve the elites as well as the "common man". They are there to serve everyone.
In many ways especially regarding the arts I'm an elitist that doesn't mean that everyone shouldn't have the same rights in a democracy
Originally posted by ArmaniJeans View PostDress code is an ok idea imo - every other job has some sort of dress code whether its a building site, an office or checkout staff in a supermarket. Having said that I think what Luke Flanagan or Mick Wallace wear at the moment is fine and should be within the proposed dress code.
Its not really about Micko or Ming but this is a pisspoor attempt to just have a go at them when there is actually nothing wrong with their dress. I'm sure its their hair that is the issue.
Its about two things priorities at a very difficult time and the impression that our Parliament is a club where only a certain type of person from a particular background is allowed; Even if we do let the odd Pleb in we will dress them up and sanitise them so that they appear to be one of the club.Last edited by Strewelpeter; 10-07-11, 09:54.Turning millions into thousands

Of course they should wear a suit and dress formally. They're our elected representatives ffs.The Dail is bigger then any one member and it's about showing respect for the office they hold as well as the electorate that put them there.
I'd have no problem with a foreigner wearing their own local garb either,as long as that was considered formal in their own country.
If I was getting married and a guest came dressed like a farmer in wellies,I'd take it as an insult.
I frickin hate casual Fridays aswell.

Does anyone know if The Jackpot still runs the tournament that is advertised on their website, it says a €30+5 FO at 7pm? Cheers in advance if anyone knows."Worldly wisdom teaches that it is better for reputation to fail conventionally than to succeed unconventionally." - John Maynard Keynes
