Wind him up ? use this to make a profit, find out who need a passport in a hurry and go half on the profits !! Stick an add in the local paper, €100 passport express...
Tell him to get back to work!! And stop all this stupid striking/ go slow!!! Those guys are pretty much the WORST public sector sponges ATM IMO!!!
Lols, this was his response the other day might be a little infuriating "Over the last 2 days I've had a guy lie to me telling me his sister died in a car crash just to get a passport. I've seen more women crying than the day Joe Dolan died and to top it off someone threatened to blow the place up? What happened to the days when a trip to Courtown was the only holiday people had."

what happened to the days when you were paid a wage to do a job & if you didn't perform you got fcuking sacked.................this government have no balls, it's time they made a stand & fcuk the lot of them out.
Thousands out there would be delighted to have their working conditions.

Hey thanks man! Glad you got something from it. Yeah HEM or PT3 are essential these days!

The government are the tools that got the place into the mess its in. They're the ones that need sacking. Obv I don't agree with what the passport guys are doing or the idea of public service departments 'holding the country to ransom' as it were, but those in power need it drilled pretty hard into their thick skulls that they fucked up majorly and screwed a lot of people.

The unions are nearly as culpable though over the last 15 years driving wage inflation in the public sector and refusing to allow any kind of performance linked pay or letting people go at any point.
meh, I'd make myself a 4/7 or better shot to get the passports back in time for the holiday (just need to somehow persuade the dude who we're renting the gite from that we can only pay the balance when we get there ) - unless things go tits up entirely
the work trips...I'm always happy to see them cancelled, this would be the ultimate excuse!

Only just realised now, it took a nasty fall earlier in the day. I'm guessing that they're about as fragile as Ipods?
Freezer job imo

Yeah exactly. Listen I know you're smarting right now, but hard disks are simply not reliable. A portable hard disk doubly so. It's an expensive lesson for you, but if you have data that you really cannot afford to lose, then you should store it in several places.
Does it make any clicking noises? If a ball-bearing has popped out you can temporarily fix it with the old freezer trick. Put it in a freezer bag and leave it in there overnight. When you take it out, drop it about a foot onto the floor. The cold ball-bearings will have shrunk, and when you dropped it it should pop back into place. Now it's only a matter of time before it pops out again, so you've got about 20 minutes to get as much data off it as possible.
Don't bother looking at recovery agents. Last time I checked they charge €700 just to have a look at it, with no guarantee of getting anything back.

This hand was to put me into top 12 of 1400 in the 3usd rebuy 50kgtd with a 75k prizepool. It just keeps happening! I guess I can see a flop but i know this donk will call and ill have him to at most 3 outs. I'm sick of running bad with occasional bad play. Pity the bro inheritted all the good luck jeans! dam you! and dam all the fishes to hell!

Do you know what a clerical officer, with say 8 years service earns ?
My wife works in the Dept of Social and family affairs, she started on about 24k 8 years ago, and is on about 28k now, thats not a massive wage inflation by any means, and her take home now is equivalent to what it was 5 years ago, now i am sure higher, much higer up grades have recieved nice pay jumps but majority of PSW are low grades on low money.
I do agree with the performance based pay reviews though and getting rid of the lazy bastards, like any job really.
Its making a very faint beeping noise when its plugged into a USB. Kind of like a siren, and is not recognised my my Win XP laptop, or my Ubuntu Netbook.
I don't have a HDD big enough to store the data thats on it, and read that the freezer trick may only work once, so I'm going to wait till I get back to the family home and try it there.

Obv I am generalising, but on the radio today that union lad was on about the passport office staff, and said that their wages were low compared with the public sector as a whole where the average wage is 50k, and this was from a union lad so hardly over exaggerated.

Average is pretty bad statistical metric when the skew of grades and experience is so wide. For example a professor on the top end of the scale at 140k is counted as a public servant, but bares little or no relevance to the likes of the passport office employees.

i believe he said it ranged from 23k to 37k? or was it 33k?

This is a pain in the hole of the highest order.
do you know anyone around with a tower? you could try getting a 2.5" adapter and trying to mount it through the IDE ribbon

So much BBV So little time. Still a couple of days worth to catch up on, great
quality reading and links WP everybody.
Tomorrow comes down to me being home for the weekend or tearing up my return ticket and staying in Nairobi until probably after the Irish Open. Problem is from a work POV I'm not sure yet which scenario is a win.

2138: Bit of a farcical end at Eastlands, where Roberto Mancini - clearly unhappy at what looks like his side's first league home defeat this season - attempts to wrestle the ball from Everton counterpart David Moyes on the touchline and the pair get involved in a bit of a ruck. Referee Peter Walton sends them both to the stands. Needless.
Compu-nerds: I've got dual monitors and want to go triple. The video card on my motherboard is disabled by the aftermarket one I installed for the dual setup. To get a 3rd one working do I need to buy exactly the same video card again or will any old one do the job?

Someone in Petes told me recently you can just get a usb adapter that allows a 3rd monitor. I'm planning to do this in the next month or so. I saw someone with a better monitor set up than me and have to beat it! At the moment my 3rd monitor would be mainly to keep track of the werewolf game.
I have a second account that I opened in the Fitz in Limerick, and use it very rarely but it could come in handy as I can deposit/withdraw by cash.
Anyway, got a call off them today asking to come back to betfair, offering a €50 free bet. Funny thing is, this is the third such call in 3 months, and everytime I've just told them to put it on my main account which they did no bother.
Then she asks will I close the dormant account (the one generating the free bets)? No says I, it might come in handy sometime... i.e. I'd rather a free €50 every month, cheers

i think if you get the same card it'll work. i gave up trying to get mine to work and just got this:

"I believe the target of anything in life should be to do it so well that it becomes art. You read a book and the writer touches something in you that you would not have brought out of yourself. He makes you discover something interesting in your life. If you are living like an animal, what is the point? What makes the day interesting is that we try to transform it into something that is close to art." - Arsene Wenger

I saw that on telly here a couple of nights ago. I would recommend that the poor C Kid doesn't watch it. Not their best episode by a long shot, but the Tiger bits were funnyish.
