That 'speed cameras are a waste of money' arguement tilts me no end though.

It's pretty much a case of the clowns driving too fast while sticking the fingers up to the rest of us who are going to pay for them, so it's a win win as far as i'm concerned.
Apart from that , getting those idiots to slow down is a worthy pursuit AFAIC.

West Ham fans did something similar at Old Trafford earlier in the season.

Started off with a build up of ooohhhss and aaaaahhhs and then they celebrated in unison as if they scored. They did it 5 times and then started singing "4-0 and you fucked it up"

and the Wigan fans were on the ball as well, singing about being in a library and shall we sing a song for you? before bursting into a full rendition of "You are my Solskjaer" suppose it keeps them warm at least

It's got to the stage where I barely even post there anymore, more often than not I only go in if there's a contentious issue or a slew of reported posts. I try and tidy it up, make some of the posters see sense and step out again. That has to be done more and more regularly these days, and you wouldn't believe some of the stuff that we delete and deal with. Never mind some of the blatant hypocrisy and point scoring in the reported posts.

Personally (and I've said this to the other mods) I think it needs to be more relaxed, let there be banter back and forth etc. Unfortunately for that to work you need mature posters and that's something that's seriously lacking on the boards soccer forum at the moment.

As for satisfaction, boards has been good to me over the years in too many ways to mention but for example it got me playing Poker & I play for the boards soccer team (when I'm not injured) I've made a lot of friends through it, I've become part of this community (albeit mostly from behind a keyboard), I've been saved from boredom at work to name just a few.

I don't take any real joy from it but I do take a satisfaction that I'm helping, in some small way, to return something for all that it's given me over the years. I think if you talk to most mods they would probably say something similar tbh.

I bet part of the reason you do it as well is that if you don't someone you disagree with and will do a worse job will do it. I know that was part of the reason I was a mod for so long over there and decided to do this as well, and not a small part. The soccer mods over there are good lads though, even if the rules have to be applied for silly things at times, such as saying what everyone is thinking but isn't really allowed to say.
