In fairness it is probably the easiest road we could want to the final.

SA are likely to be fairly poor and tired after NZ whipping them and Italy giving it a big go as they will target them for their whole preparation as the game to win.

Oz are pretty beatable if we are on form so better than getting France, England or NZ.

As for the final we can always hope that France decide to beat NZ again and knock them out for us.

I'd be much happier facing a skillfull and fast scotland team rather than the physical french again. Injury prevention is the key throughout the group stages as we found out last time. South Africa will be big and tough but the Lions losing Ackerman will have a big impact on the development of their players.

They really make a mockery of our febrile attempts to diagnose any of the Irish parties as being in anyway right wing. E.g. Noonan's audacious division of extra money in the budget as 1/3rd tax cuts and 2/3rds welfare benefits had him put firmly in the right wing camp.

Clearly the ideal govt make up is socially middle left and fiscally middle right. We seem to have gone the other way on it.
