I mentioned before that EAV is becoming more common, UK customers are verified on registration due to the massive databases that can be accessed. Same with Scandinavia, Ireland a bit tougher.
And Pokerstars with their 100 million customers, you might be waiting a week or two before being allowed to play after registering.Last edited by bohsman; 08-11-17, 20:31.

Raw pork on the other hand. No issue there for me. Although most Irish people do have deep rooted ability to cremate the stuff.

TIL that the Gretzky brothers hold the NHL record for the most points scored by a set of brothers, with a total of 2,861. Of which Wayne scored 2,857 and Brent scored 4.

I'm not saying what he is saying is wrong but it must be tempered by the knowledge that he'll have to work a little harder now that his newspaper will never again be an official partner of this conference like it once was.

The absolute temerity of the guy for trying to negotiate a favourable business deal with Dublin for hosting a conference with 70,000 attendees and hoping for working WiFi.
Comparisons with MOL are unfair and almost perverse as the two come from opposite ends of the spectrum - MOL pretty much wants to be left alone to run his business without (in his opinion) annoying red tape and administrative interference whilst PC demanded garda escorts, subsidies and legislation to limit hotel pricing.Last edited by ArmaniJeans; 09-11-17, 10:33.

Heading to Melbourne with the misses this weekend. For her birthday I booked dinner at a well known restaurant she wanted to try, a french bistro. They let me know they were closing for a few weeks for renovations but would be reopening the 9th November and they would hold my reservation. Great, I thought. The clown however failed to mention they'd be reopening as a japanese seafood restaurant.

Sure he can go there for 4-5 days. But he won't have the same long tail access nor the same cache as just another foreign reporter rather than the lead guy from the official partner access.
With the latter, when it's in Dublin, he can justify spinning out the story lines for weeks to his editor but that would quickly wear thin when it's not here as there is simply not the same appetite for the detailed coverage he'd be able to indulge in if it were on his doorstep.

God, I haven't properly looked at Twitter in many months, it really seems to have fallen back compared to other social networks, at least in my experience and anecdotally among friends. Do many people still find it useful? Seems good for breaking news, checking in with random celebs but maybe less so for following what friends are doing/thinking or feeling the pulse of the great unwashed. Wonder what kind of future the platform will have...

Which reminds me of something that makes me angry, completely unrelated. Hoes Harry Potter films, totally unrealistic and childish. I couldn't suspend my disbelief while watching tbh. They spin a fantastical story of a ginger who has not just one friend but two, just not on.

So tilting that Simon Harris saying the alcohol bill not going to affect price of the pint etc.
Overall the bill is awful for customers currently in Supervalu there's 24 Carlsberg 500ml cans for €23. Going forward the minimum price of that will be around €39.50.
If you drink the craft beers retailing about ~€2.50 a lot of people think they won't be hit but they will most likely increase in price to maintain the premium price above the cheaper stuff. Maybe up closer to ~€3.
Then the gap between the off license and the pub is decreased the publicans will be straight in with price increases to maintain their margin too.
Boom times all round except for the customer.

Originally posted by Hitchhiker's Guide To... View PostThis might happen. But not necessarily. These premium beers are also competing against other non-beer drinks, so that will be a determinant of their price.
€1.66 for a can of Carlsberg isn't too bad?
We're really moving towards pricing all externalities now. Cheap beer costs society a lot in e.g. A&E, health issues, so price it properly. Sugar causes obesity and diabetes so price it properly.
My big issue is they don't do something related with the money. E.g. would be cool if they ringfenced extra alcohol and sugar revenue for 'desired' activities like running / cycling routes, alternative evening entertainments.
BTW what will happen is the price of you can of Carlsberg wont change at all but your can size will be reduced to 440ml (like the north) and your alcohol content will be reduced too. Therefore the price point isn't affected. Its like the shrinking chocolate bars.

yo, hows the feet.
that quote devil ad guy is an annoyingly smug Devil.
I don't really like drinking at home at current prices, it feels very knackery. Now that the alcohol will be expensive it's less knackery and so at those new prices I will most likely drink at home. Cheap beer runied us socially. Now I'll accept a can when offered during house visits. In the past it was, meh, tis a it knackery.

We already have some of the most expensive booze in Europe, with declining consumptions. Can't see anything positive in this other than for vintners.Last edited by Denny Crane; 09-11-17, 20:06.
