That's the one, life was golf after I got a sports injury, even being a caddy or ball watcher when I wasn't playing, or finding hundreds of golf balls in the rough alongside the beach. My original post was a bit tongue in cheek but my thoughts are. Of course most women are not being sexually abused. There is a high rate of it but the average bloke isn’t actually sexually abusing women . I base it on the facts that.

"Women won't tolerate it" is madness. It's the opposite. It's an inundation of comments, catcalls, groping etc your whole life, they have to tolerate it. When I had a broken arm I felt fairly vulnerable everywhere I went at night, once I went to the George with my friend and jaysus the harassment I got. Years ago before I moved to Ireland I was on a nightout with a female friend who was in her early 40's. I was maybe 29 at the time. I went to the local night club in Carndonagh and the next day at breakfast we were chatting. I had no recollection at all from about 11.30 onwards, nothing, could remember everything up till then. Was drinking cider just which I can handle no bother and then suddenly a total blank. It scared me as I expected to have some memories. She said I suddenly seemed really drunk and she got us a taxi and we went home. I was staying at hers.

She thinks and I agree, something was put in my drink, especially as time went on and still no flashbacks at all. Just about 3 hours gone and a sleep I have nothing I could report back on. Just a blank.

I was very careful about my drinks after that, would never leave it sitting on the high bar bit at the dance floor etc. And it is a shame that it has to be this way.

The fact he wasn't there that often helped me get in. There was an Israeli fella who did work in the showroom and he had a fair idea and he dragged the job out so he was always close by, really appreciated it as I never had to tell him and he was there for me in that way.

After I split with my ex, they both got together and made some sort of financial deal. During this time he told the boss what I had said to him and they both went against me. I am not going into that but he did call me and say that he had heard from the ex and that I was making wild accusations. I was driving from Dublin at the time and just spluttered a bit and wanted to say, "well you know what happened" but I denied saying a thing and he cut the call and I never had anything to do with him again.

I knew a cousin of one of my friends used to work for him and I tried to get info out of her without saying too much but never managed and this was while I still worked there. Without me telling her what I was asking I couldn't get what I wanted across to the cousin so I ended up leaving it.

No point now though, I kind of felt bad as I worked with his son, knew his other 2 sons and his daughter as well as wife and didn't want to hurt her. I know that is silly but that was my main reason.

I was the one that kept the company going, I made sure all the money came in etc and after I left a few months later the place went bust and shit down. So I just moved on and tried to put it behind me. Hadn't really thought much about it this last while till all the stuff was posted.

The simple fact is that intention is subjective, but behaviour is objective. If you make a joke that is objectively inappropriate (and we all know when we do) then you simply have to accept that someone might find it inappropriate. Same with unnecessary touching (no, she doesn't want you to touch her arm when you talk) or more explicit forms of behaviour. All men engage in it to some degree or stay silent in the face of it no matter how much we tell ourselves we don't.

So, to a certain extent, it is all men. And that's why we react to it by saying it isn't. Cause we know that on a certain level we have probably all risked crossing that line and justified it by saying "it was banter" or that we didn't have a bad intention therefore it wasn't a bad act.
