My GP referred me this morning and I have heard nothing.
if I'm not mistaken your symptoms are worse than mine.
And not to sound, to put upon, my GP is in ballyer and was more concerned I'd pay than anything.

GPs are fucking useless. The traffic cops of the medical world.
This may or may not be an original thought of my own.
All efforts were made to make this thought original but with the abundance of thoughts in the world the originality of this thought cannot be guaranteed.

How does the sentiment in Canada compare to what you're reading here and hearing from those at home?
Canada strikes me like somewhere that would be on top of it.
I have a very biased view towards "we aren't doing enough" so read this with that in mind.
Schools and Daycares are closed as of today (announced last night)
Curiously, the Casinos are still open.
Daily briefings from the CMO of Alberta here. Dunno whats its like in other provinces.
Federal response has been mostly guidelines.
Testing seems to be ok, busy obviously, but you call them, they give you a time and you go to a testing centre. If its super serious they come to you.
Girlfriends dad is getting tested today (at a test centre).
Two of her staff are also getting tested.
She hasn't been told or advised to close the bar yet though.
Trudeau to speak today I think, CMO of Canada has said unequivocally the window to flatten the curve is narrowing.
It seems the general pop aren't taking it super seriously (much like you guys a week ago).
I would be optimistic about our healthcare system withstanding a lot more than other countries though, it really is world class (Italy might laugh at this statement) Might not matter if we don't slow things down though.

Whats the UKs thinking (which again seems to be against the SOP for this type of thing) in testing only hospitalised people?
Magic wand, youd test everyone in your country at once to understand how many and where to support data informed decisions.
Moving towards rather than away from this volume of testing has to be the right way?
Cant be to just massage the numbers can it? Deaths per population will be the metric they cant hide from?
Good article from Nature on the spread of the virus, no moving colourful graphics but quite clear that it has spread far deeper amongst the population than any numbers indicate: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-00760-8
Spoke to the lads in work there. We're not closing and warehouse staff and drivers are expected in as normal. Managers and office staff have been told to stay at home. Lol. Shower a cunts.
I'd assume it's a policy devised to disproportionately kill off the poor and improve the chances of Tories in future elections.
It's old people that vote conservative. I'm short GBP anyway. Just can't see how they're not going to be there worst hit country, and it's not like they're got a lot of international goodwill to rely on.
On the other hand, Trump was heavily criticised for this decision way back when

dobby doesnt mind engaging people. Youd easy know he isnt a Dub!. Youre first instinct is to go to the person in charge and enquire unabashed.
Not getting at you dobby at all only having a laugh and pointing out the difference between this curious but probably normal behavior versus what a typical Dub would do. A Dub would rarely go to a HR office or higher up to enquire unless he knew them well and seen them in a neutral setting with nobody else in earshot. Theyd have plenty to say behind the scenes with their small trusted rabble. They would say nothing and instead make furtive enquiries in a way to find the scoop or get someone else to ask in a way that it wont get back that it was them who was enquiring in the first place!
Im sure you startle those cnuts espectally when they dont see you coming. For those that do ''Ah jaysus here he comes again I wonder what it will be this time!?.''
Johnson urging people to avoid pubs clubs and restaurants but I don't hear anything about closing schools the tube or anything that would 'nudge' people into compliance
Boris just provided an unbelievable press release that I'm not really sure wasnt part of a Harry Enfield sketch of some sort, would be hilarious if it wasnt so reckless and dangerous.

Ask them what appropriate safety clothing they are providing and what are they doing to ensure all people working in the same space are enabled to practice social distancing.

Isn't the problem that he banned travel after airlines had already stopped it anyway, so it had no effect. And more importantly that he didn't ban travel from places with active outbreaks.
This is the travel ban back in Jan
In January, President Trump banned all foreign nationals who were in China during the time of the coronavirus outbreak from entering the United States. Many pundits and health experts have since credited this decision with helping to slow the coronavirus pandemic on American shores.
However, at the time former vice president Joe Biden railed against the decision.
During a campaign rally, Biden said that “In moments like this, this is where the credibility of a president is most needed, as he explains what we should and should not do.”
“This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia, hysterical xenophobia, to uh, and fear mongering,” Biden continued.

Haha, I totally get this and its something I've noticed since moving up here in all jobs I've had. I'd be of the mind to just land up to the office and ask the question straight out to get a straight answer while other lads, Dubs, would be downstairs in a corner complaining away to each other and wouldnt go near the office for whatever reason..
I dont have a problem with authority so would have no problem just talking to them on a level basis and I've never met a manager that has reacted badly. Ask a question, get an answer and accept it whether you agree with it or not. The lads who complain amongst themselves are usually the same lads who complain about being asked to do the simplest task.

A packet of 20 face masks. Manager said not to wear them until you contract the virus or virus like symptoms so you can avoid spreading it if you have it. And a box of 100 latex gloves to be worn and changed at every break. It's impossible to enable the distancing as the job requires heavy stuff to be moved around which could involve 2-4 people working closely together and I'd also meet a lot of people on site.
Think it's time to look for a new job but for now, its business as usual.

Vradkar, Coveney & Harris are too busy filling up all those hire cars with Diesel to address the country. They will be on the 6-1 news later smelling of diesel and making the much anticipated announcement.
The vehicles will be used to help vulnerable people in communities to pick up medicaton or attend hospital.

Business as usual in my factory, ~150 people who are production critical and cannot work from home, x 4 shifts..thats a lot of people coming and going.
To give them credit, they did a good job of spacing out the canteen, its like sitting the leaving cert all over again I am bringing my own food and cutlery.
Lots of hand sanatiser around the plant and the way the production lines work we are well spaced out so social distancing isnt really an issue.
Pretty much recession proof business last time around, this time however, lets see.
The cynic in me says they are doing all this to bypass any recommended closure, they may claim medically critical products, again...lets see.
Spoilered for google bots.
SPOILER
JNJ Vision Care, btw, largest contact lens manufacturing plant in the world, pumping out ~7mm lenses a day, 2-3 weeks closure would seriously upset their business plan.
How is that marshalled with a border Canada's size?
I figure if you want to cross the border in some frozen random saskatchewan or manitoba field I think you'll be able too.
But the practical implementation of this air travel, and ground travel through official border points.
Seems US citizens are being allowed through though now after JT clarified.

You hit the nail on the head there dobby, absolutely. There is a them and us mentality clique that pervades for some reason. You have the right attitude with that way.
The photo in the article is one of the cars I was sent photos of. Other one was a 7 seater. It's also obvious from the video that it was the same car lot.
Part of what the mystery voice said was true, whether the lockdown was added bullshit or not remains to be seen.
Eoghan - in so far as possible can you give us details? Timeline, symptoms, testing, interaction with GP/ HSE?
Sure,
Timeline is from Thursday morning when I woke up with a terrible chesty cough. Stayed the same all day as I travelled home and only that night did a light fever kick in.
Friday I still had the cough and some chills and was rough enough. Friday night was the worst. Waking up in a pool of sweat multiple times absolutely freezing and trying to find a dry bit of bed/duvet.
Saturday morning very bad sore throat that was very short lived. Felt better and better all day. No fever. Slept like a baby.
Sunday felt good all day. Light cough and slept like a baby.
Today the cough is there again but more annoying than anything.
My mate that is positive had a very similar few days.
I have been in regular contact with GP who advised on waiting until today to refer me for a test. He did so this morning and I have heard nothing from HSE.
My mates experience was that he rang his GP on Saturday with symptoms and the doc sent an ambo to bring him to Vincent's. Two lads in full protective gear took him out of the house. He was brought to an isolated room where he waited for 45 mins. He then got the test and was sent home to self isolate. He only got the call today.
They said he was positive and to get the names and numbers of all people he was in contact with so they could arrange tests. They have since called him and said that they wont be contacting people and for him to advise us all to ring our GPs.
That's it for now so just waiting on a call now. Numbers are about to explode IMO
One thing that is incredibly, jarringly incongruous right now.
Advertising.
really is.
things have changed so fast, so much seeing ads for venues, concerts, drinks etc in your news feed is pretty jarring

Does anyone know if this is being tracked anywhere?
This is one of the best sites I've seen. Gives each country, total cases, total deaths, new cases and deaths per day as they are announced and also total cases per 1million population
Daily and weekly updated statistics tracking the number of COVID-19 cases, recovered, and deaths. Historical data with cumulative charts, graphs, and updates.

Croke park to be used as a drive through testing facility by appointment only. This thing is only getting started here by the sounds of everything on the news.
That's an excellent resource. Fascinating to see how the recovered vs active numbers look.
Switzerland and Norway are interesting.
ill guess recovered cases number is bordering on almost useless at this stage?
wont everyone be really reluctant to officially class anyone as "recovered " for maybe a few weeks
although then having any numbers as recovered doesnt make a lot of sense i suppose
Actually played online poker yesterday for the first time in years.
It's like the coronvirus reset IPB.
Been a huge increase in the number of players online over the past few weeks, especially on Spanish stars and Winamax. Grinders must be rubbing their hands with the inlux of players.

Malta had 9 new cases today, and the PM held a conference a few hour ago t say they are closing all pubs, clubs, gyms, cinemas, restaurants and other large gathering places. They have also increased the fine from €1k to €3k for anyone caught breaking self isolation.
Had to go to the local shop today, and they had 'security' on. He gave me the nod to go in, but looks like they are only letting limited people in at a time.
One thing that is incredibly, jarringly incongruous right now.
Advertising.
I notice the Mads Mikelsen Carlsberg handshake ad completed disappeared sometime last week. I wonder if there's a procedure for getting these things pulled.
