I am in no way a barista but with a Gaggia Classic, a MDF grinder (total cost ~400, bought 8 years ago), a small bit of maintenance and, crucially, good beans - I reckon my espressos are better than 90% of Dublin restaurants and 75% of specialist coffee places.

YouTube vids are gold for tips too.

Beans are of course important, but a clown can still mess a mass of it.
The best beans in the world will taste like an ashtray is the coffee is watery and the milk burnt.

If you are drinking plain espresso, the barista has to do very little with modern machines. maybe just tamp it propery. But people will serve all sorts of horrible milk with coffee.

One thing I noticed at home was the size of coffees, a small in most places was at least as big as a large here. Except that they don't put in a 2double/triple shot of espresso. SO the ratios are way off. I was mostly served coffee flavoured milk.

If you want to be late for work for the first time ever I highly recomened these over the counter in SOME chemists.:

Was due in work today 10/7 pm , rolled over quite refreshed looked at clock which read 10.01 am after falling asleep for approx 11 hours

And that was half a one I took , holy jesus my whole day completly fucked up

Might have had something to do with the fact that you were shattered tired even before you took the tablet. Either way, you needed the sleep anyhow.

nah this was 100% knock out job, i often went to bed at 4 /5 am and got up no bother at 7.30, unreal . handy though for a night when i dont have work lol

I thought there was only one aeropress. And the metal filters were add-ons made by others.
Mine came with paper filters in the box. Shit loads. Might try out a metal one when I use them up

MSN's right. My missus was prescribed phenergan last month after a bad reaction to a bite. Knocked her out everytime. I took one flying back to sydney. Most sleep I've ever got on a plane.

Just checked there and the use is listed as;

In the treatment of allergic conditions and reactions.
As an antiemetic.
As a tranquilliser.

Americano's don't really exist here, they're either short or long blacks accompanied by a small jug of water. A few places have the same in Ireland, ones I remember Blackfriars in Waterford and Joes coffee in Kildare village. I'm sure it's common enough in Dublin.
The new restaurant in Kildare Village also serves their coffee in a bowl which is just an awful idea.

I think if you choose the 'audit' option, you can still go through all the course material for free. You just won't be able to submit on any tests or anything.

Had a very positive board meeting this morning
Followed by going sale agreed on my soon to be McMansion.
Followed by attending my Uncles funeral near Athy
Followed by visiting my Dad post a pretty serious operation yesterday in Kilkenny hospital. Thankfully doing great.
Now sitting in the RDS freezing my ass getting ready for Leinster to kick some French butt!
A reasonably productive day. Still disappointed to miss the craic in Vintage kitchen last night. Next year.
