We are going to organize a Poker Cashgame in Lucan.

We are looking for interested poker players around the Lucan area. If you are interested you can send me a private message. Or you can react in this topic.

When there are enough people interested minimum of 6 players we will arrange everything and we will give you all the other information.

Blinds: 1/2 (if all players want higher blinds we can change the blinds)
Stradle: Allowed
Rake: 9%

Arrangments: Pokerdealer, free drinks, free snacks.

When: Every Friday we start at 7PM.

I'd advise any players in the area who want play an "home" cash game. To arrange a dealer themselves and not pay a ridiculous 9% rake.

9% rake is meaningless without a cap specified, unless its uncapped in which case its insanely big.

jlr, you approached this the wrong way. You should have advertised an acceptable rake such as 5%, but just taken 9% anyway on the day. This model has been successfully implemented by many operators down the years.

If you don't know the current standard rake in the industry in live poker how can players have any confidence in you actually knowing the rules of the game and running a fair game without someone getting killed!

Have you ever played live cash? Or did you wake up this morning and think this is a good business venture!

So before you begin slacking people ask it in a other way.(for your own sake because you look really childish atm)

We will have a casino dealer and all people organizing know all the rules. and safety measures are already taken. So instead of slacking maybe give feedback that helps so we can develop else I really don't see a reason why you should react here.

My first reaction to your post was run a mile. It was your first ever post on a poker forum advertsing a cash game with pretty much zero details

Who are you?
What is your company?
Who else if anybody is involved in this venture? You mention 'all the people organizing know the rules' - They are who?
Where will the games be played in Lucan - A new casino, a pub, a hotel, a shed out your back garden?
You mention safety measures are taken care of - What does this mean exactly?

I'm sorry but I can see you getting next to zero positive responses / expressions of interest to a random anonymous post on the interwebs asking about a cash game

No where in Ireland (I'm open to correction) do they charge 9% rake, they usually charge 5% with a max Ie. €10 per pot. On cruise ships or higher taxation countries they would charge this sort of rake. So someone as being ripping you off.

Seen you've done so much research into the idea, have you got a licence or what is the legal situation in running this game?

Also, if you only get 1 table a night which is highly likely at best.. how will this cover all your overheads.

My childish reaction is to the stupidity of your idea and how you asked it so badly and started with a 9% rake and stradle. If it was a home game, then charge a entry fee per hour or per night, that would get people interested.

But if you were to get a decent game, I live in the area and would be straight over, but somehow I strongly doubt it.

Most people here will avoid any game that you jlr advertise in the future. My advise - forget it.

I'm currently renovating my house in Clondalkin and was considering running a weekly cash game when finished.

I had planned on going with a 5% rake capped at €3 per pot and I am expecting to be able to provide a dealer and some finger food from that.

I will generate a thread when ready to go with my game for anybody interested. Sorry if this seems like I'm hijacking your thread here.

Anyway, my opinion is with a 9% rake you may struggle but good luck with the game nonetheless.
