With contactless payments I only use cash for pubs/restaurants now, and although the latter seems to get funny reactions.

The things I gave to family were easy, but given our ambitious plan of reducing a household worth of stuff to two suitcases each I wonder would we have been better off foregoing any monies we got in exchange for the zero stress option of a very large skip!

People were genuinely terrified it might happen here. They changed some aspects of the Constitution to limit the ability of the Executive function to be transferred to the President to stop Fianna Fail from doing so once Dev was elected even though it's quite clear that was never his intention.

It's hard to conceive of something like that now but in the context of the time it was a live issue.

There were dozens of drafts over the course of the drafting. The original provision was significantly longer than the current Art 12.4 and the only surviving limitation was the age limit. They genuinely discussed every facet of the Constitution in those meetings and everything was poured over. I have a lot of the source material here but not, alas, the minutes of the Constitutional committee.

I think they're in Hogan's book but my copy is currently residing with a friend of mine and not at home with me so I cannot check. However, I think it's clear that they discussed it and gave it due consideration. Unless you have evidence to the contrary I'm happy to take Dr. Keogh's well-researched word for it.
