Got to hand it to KLM for their pricing policies.

Had to change my flights yesterday and the quote we got back was new filght with Etihad via Abu Dhabi 800, Change my existing KLM Economy ticket because of last minute decision to fly was 2700 (that's on top of an originally way too expensive 1900 return). Then there was a third option that allowed me to change my original ticket to Business for 700.
Tough choice.

The airport in Lagos is 15KM from the hotel and for 12KM its a 4 lane bridge with no junctions on or off .
For a 11PM flight if you leave the hotel by 4 you get to the airport by 6.
If you leave at 5 you will not get there before 10.

All along the road the 4 lanes are fitting 6 lanes of cars and kids selling shit in and out of the barely mving traffic, no one orders anything until they start moving and then the sellers have to run along. Twice along the way motorcades escorting failed political candidates from the primary elections traffic jam came barging through the traffic jam the lead cars were actually using their bull bars to push away anyone who didn't move for them.
The second lot were in the last few KM and got stuck just after us and our driver got us to the dop off in the airport before them!

Damn! I thought I was videoing the first one barging past but I messed it up.

to be very exact, I'm preparing for an econometrics exam on Monday. I've no specific questions currently, but it's inevitable I will at some stage over the next ~60 hours, so said I'd get the feeler question out nice and early to see if yourself or any others might be familiar with the material.

Didn't really expect it to be as time consuming as it was, alot more work than I suspected, makes me think about my willingness to commit to a research masters next year. 4 exams next week, definitely the first year I've felt any way under pressure.

But had to book a new earlier flight for tomorrow morning as need to be there sooner, so won't be using the outward leg of the original flight. It doesn't affect the validity of the return portion of the flight if I don't take the outward leg? Like they won't cancel the entire ticket?

I think some airlines still have a policy of if you don't use a particular leg that subsequent ones are immediately cancelled. Its definitely not an issue with Ryanair anyway, probably not Aer Lingus either but wouldn't be surprised if some of the oldschool carriers like Air France still have it.

Edit : Looking around google it does indeed seem that cancelling the return leg would be done automatically by most airlines, British Airways being a good example. Worth knowing for future reference I suppose.
