I caught the film Limitless recently, so I have some idea of what to expect over the coming days.
Was on Parnell Street today (eating in Pho Viet) and saw that there is now a Fitzpatrick's Casino there. This is Asian central. That is going to be a fucking goldmine! Speaking of, wandered into Dr Quirkey's today for a scout around and I would say they are making very good money. Packed with people, mostly foreign, mostly Asian. Slots (enormous number of them), electronic roulette, and electronic blackjack.
Those shufflemaster blackjack machines run on a standard desktop machine a lot lower spec than the pcs being built in HH's duscussions above. Have installed a rouletre machine. Recently in a place rhat has 486 CPUs in the terminals, it would have been running pretty much 24/7 for the last 10 years too without much trouble.
The boards forum on building/upgrading is a good resource. They will tell you, and i agree, buy parts from hardwareversand and give them the twenty quid odd to build it. The lessons you will learn by self building are not useful ones, mainly involving fruitless frustrating hunts for mistakes you have unknowingly made. A few sliced fingers/scraped knuckles would be par for the course too when not used to fiddling around inside cases. You could install windows yourself if you wanted some sense of achievement and you dont value your leisure time
Never found the €20 option to get it built yourself, ended up building it myself and although it was interesting I'm not sure I'd do it again bought 16gb of ram but only 1 of the sticks would work and I never bothered sending it back.

I work with two guys from Mauritius who spend all their social time in Dr Quirkeys. Apparently the entire Dublin Mauritian community hang out there, drink tea and gamble, it's their 'pub'.

A friend recently bought 2 3DS XL Nintendo consoles from the states for his kids for Xmas, games from over here wont work on them though. Is it possible to chip/modify the consoles so European games will work on them? If so, whats the bet way to go about it?

it is possible (for firmware versions below 4.5), but that's only for using region free roms (downloaded games). my understanding is it won't work for cartridges.

My local spot was the arcades in strandhill in sligo, down near the airport, that's where I spent most of my days. Chilling out, maxing, relaxin' and bettin' or shooting some craps outside of the school... until eamonhonda, who was up to no good, started making trouble in my neighbourhood. We got in one little fight and Eamon got scared, you know what, I'm gonna hide in the airport, I'll be sorted.

Fergal Devitt was on the indy scene for ages, and did a long stint over in Japan. Even during his Japan time he would come back to Ireland to do tiny house shows in GAA halls around the country. Some athlete in fairness.
