Today the horses race for a pot of gold, the humans race for a pot of electronic digits representing currency.
Here's a rundown of our main contenders:
1. Mike Bullocks
Man of the people Mike Bullocks is a complete charlatan - claims to come from Drimnagh and be of earthy tastes but can frequently be seen swigging expensive vino in swanky establishments. Doesn't know one end of a horse from the other. Would give up the winnings for 10 seconds with Brittney Spears.
2. Shraaaaap
More French than Rene Artois, Shraaaap has nonetheless made it his life's mission to bring Gallic values to a largely uncaring Anglophone world. Id prone to dropping hints about an exotic past ("there was that time that we dropped acid with Johnny Halliday and woke up three days later in a harem in Algiers..."). Secretly in love with Owen Farrell.
3. Hitch
Alleged professor Hitch is secretly a front for Russian mafia money. Has a rare ability to argue either side of an argument without knowing anything about it. Prone to savage benders. Likes the odd drink too. Still trying to figure France out.
4. Switchy
A mysterious creature of the night. His usual day at work looks like this.
5. nicnic
A perennial contender and last years champion, he lurks in the South East plotting. Always plotting. Most famous for winning big hands with no cards but if he binks this, that might all change.
