Im not sure about the exact pot size but it was about 5.5k

Im first to act and i have 3.2k in my hand about to bet and i see villain to my immediate left gathering chips to bet (about 2.7k). Im not sure if he thought he was first to act or if he thought I checked, and im also not sure if he saw that I had chips in my hand to bet.

I said hold on im first to act.

So what do you do?

I know you dont think it's important but the betting leading up to the river would have a massive impact on my decision here, so if you could enlighten us it would help.

If it seems like he will definitely bet here based on previous action then I might check, let him bet, give a speech about how I was first to act, act pissed off with him, stare him down for a bit then give him the big pot-sized "FU this pot is mine" raise, mucho +EV!

If there is a decent chance he is weak and trying to induce a check so he can check behind just continue with your planned course of action and bet.

I dont remember the exact bet sizes, but he called my cbet on the flop. I bet the turn when the flush hit and called his raise.

I ended up betting the river and when i did I thought I fucked up and should have checked. He tank called and later said I wasn't getting more from him if I had of c/r him instead.

Lots of times people looking for free cards will angle shoot a 'betting out of turn' body posture...... Good chance this was the case. Bet the flop, (sweeten that pot) then, (some will say check the turn... I don't in this scenario) as the turn is a 'draw hit' card, light bet the turn and value the river..... the original flop bet has ensured that a nice payout has taken place!
