It is funny to look back on all that stuff now, I realise that I never actually believed in any of it at any stage, I remember arguing with my parents before my first confession that I didn't believe telling a stranger your sins could possibly do any good, and then in the box itself doing the usual making up stuff to tell the priest (like 7/8 year olds are actually sinful - GTFO!) and not believing a second of it. I think I was born an atheist, I don't have any faith inside and never did, sometimes I wonder what I'm missing out on, religious ecstasy must be quite enjoyable, believing that God is your salvation etc.

Things are different in Scotland and Donegal. We never went round relatives houses to get money and never wore those redic looking rosettes I see them wearing. A party at the house or a meal at a hotel for family is the norm.

You would normally just have the cake if you having it at home though.

Always wondered what the hell an aul one could have to confess, guess the priests felt like it was a waste of time too!

i did, it sees the file, but when i try to start it copying over, its just stayed at 0% then after a while said it cant read the location, and the whole I: drive dissapears off list.

definitely this big file, was filming and its filled the card so never got to finalise. i got a program called digital video repair, which says the file is wrong index, but when it tries to repair, it jumps to "file has no errors"

I've mentioned before how my mam has worked doing flowers etc in the local church and how this dragged me into all sorts of associated activities.
I was in choirs, served as an altar boy (did mass on tv twice), went to Rome for World Youth Day, was involved heavily in CYC, learned american sign language for a deaf catholic concert, gave a lecture at Maynooth about youth's role in the church and often did readings, poems and the like from the pulpit. RTE mass was actually quite funny as I went a very weird shade of grey under the lights when we were 'live' and had to rush offstage every few mins for water. I suppose being 11 or 12, in a shirt and tie and under a heavy cassock didnt help.

What drew me to considering being a priest was a very sound priest and an interest in theology.
I've read most of the teachings of all the abrahamic religions and most of the eastern religions too, I did a bit on the South American religions but found them more morbidly interesting than spiritualy.
Funnily enough, the similarities attracted me instead of causing me to shout plagarism and I felt that if the little bits that are different are ignored than we can use all the many things that they have in common to help promote inter denominational discourse.....


Anyway, I'll get back to this later as I gotta run.
