I understand what you mean and live is 100 times easier than online and some people people prefer it.

Its possible you might not get sucked out on early on and play good and win money so you can afford to take a few hits but if you start off dodgy be aware you might go busto.

What SM meant was if i play online i can play the stakes im rolled for and therefore be able to handle the swings.

So im going to assign myself 500 euro as a live poker bankrole, im thinking of investing it all in casino chips probably in the voodoo, i know this can be viewed as an unsafe investment as if the company goes bust down the drain goes my money, however i feel it would be a good way to keep myself diciplined and not dip into my bankrole for nights out or what not.

i have played 3 tournaments in the voodoo, finished 4th in one (the 25 euro freezeout) 12th in another (25 freezeout) and 15th as a horse in the 60E end of month, ive played about 8 sessions of cash and made a profit from 6.

what way would you see best to utilise a bankrole of 500? should i start with the smaller tournaments and try and build it up?

or should i focus mainly on the 50c/1 cash tables, sitting down with 50 a session?

This is sort of like a new venture for me as usually i have just walked into a casino with the money in my pocket and have never had any sort of bankrole assigned.

Any tips/advise would be appreciated

I agree with Ace. I feel so dirty.

Also, your idea as outlined is truly awful. Please don't do it. By all means have a bankroll for live cash and manage it carefully but buying casino chips for one casino is a terrible idea. Keep it in cash and be strong willed about your management if you are dead set on going ahead with this.

OK i'm going to go against the grain here and say go for it with your €500 and play live. From reading your posts and listening to you over the last 6 months, i think you enjoy the live aspect and the socialising aspect as much as playing. You enjoy the banter, trying to read people and trying to cover your own tells while playing. In the early stages, playing live tournament poker is a million times for fun that grinding low stakes cash when you're only getting into the game.

Take your €500 and don't play a game with a buyin over €40, There's plenty of decent good structured games out there. Even if you don't cash in any, and go broke, you'll get 15 tournaments under your belt and get a really good feel whether live poker is for you, or whether you want to concentrate more online.

Buyin tournament chips isn't an awful idea. You work in the place, you seen to be comfortable there, and that will all help you grow as a live player. You can cash you chips it any stage you want so it's not as if your money is tied up. If you tilt in any way, you'll probably blow €500 online in less than a week by exercising bad bankroll management and taking shots. If you play live, this wont happen if you stick to tournaments and stay away from cash games. You just aren't anyway rolled to play properly or not play scared

I did read it properly and my point was more so a sarcastic take on the you may go busto. its called gambling for a reason and its highly likely he will go busto but the majority these days have their head in the clouds imo and everyone thinks they're never gonna go broke as they're superior players and destined to be a winner. If someone needs to be warned about the trappings of the game and that there is a chance they will lose their money then its already too late properly.

And to the OP just do what you're comfortable with, if you're playing with scared money be it online or live then you will always struggle when it comes to the important decisions. Sit down in a game or two and feel your way into it. The only way you will ever play for the big profits are by losing the big pots if you get me. the first time you lose a 100 pot it will be shitty, next time not so much,pain threshold will kick in around 180 then and then 250 and so on and so on. Pretty soon you will be able to value bet more, bluff better, call more, raise lighter and decisions will be easier as whats another 100 dollar pot after ya have lost a few of them compared to the first time you have to make the decision.

Tony has hit the nail on the head when he points out how i enjoy the live aspects of poker, the banter, the reads etc. I truly do, i have been playing online since i was 16 and not had any real success..that said i have never truly assigned bankrole management either.

I am going to go ahead and use the 500 for live play, i will take Tony's and everyone els's advise and stay away from the cash games i am mightily under rolled for. Stick with the tournaments learn, Improve and hopefully hit some run good. The goal will be to reach a point where i can sit down comfortably at the 50c/1 and not be scared to play some real poker.

Just after moving out of a rented house, and the landlord/estate agent is looking for 350 to deal with cleaning bills (15 quid an hour for x hours or whatever). We left the house in a reasonable state. I thought landlords were legally obliged to clean the house anyway after you leave? We actually left the place looking well FWIW.

also the chance of turning 90 into 2k in 4 hours is a lot higher too. if you do venture into cash make sure its on fri/sat night, stay sober and get well rested and play from 2 to about 5am and you should have no problems making money if you play uber tight

I love live poker even now when I should have long grown out of it and become normal so I can appreciate you thinking 500 euro tank easy game,their fish cant lose imo.HOWEVER lets say any given night you play a live tourny. That same night on Stars you can play a 60k grtee,the daily 40k,the daily 90k and multiple 20k grtees. Give yourself a chance to let your game really improve and develop-to be honest only playing live it just wont,or at least not a reasonable rate. 650 euro grand tank online-hell even play cash and try and learn how to actually play poker in the millions of hands you can get it.
You seem like your minds made up to play live-fair dues,my man etc etc certainly value in becoming a good live player but have no illusions with 500 you are taking a shot are a HUGE HUGE favourite to bust. Good luck anywho!!!

Yeah, sadly inevitable that no matter how many people tell you it's a bad idea you're were only going to do 1 thing, as soon as you get 1 positive post you jump on it and says it hits the nail on the head etc.

You used your bad bankroll management as a justification for why you didn't win online and yet you're nowhere near rolled to play live tournaments with just 500. Sadly you will not learn much about how to play real poker as that's not possible in the format of live tournaments. You will get very few if any interesting deep hands, it will be mainly ICM calculations.

It's obvious what you ultimately want want to learn poker, how to play properly, how to win a decent amount of money long term. This a sub-optimal route to that goal. Online is far better and it's not even close.

On the other hand if you just enjoy playing live tournaments and think you will get €500 worth of enjoyment out of it should you lose it all then sure go for it; I can think of better uses to spend €500 but it's your money. But at least be honest with yourself about what you want out of this venture and try not to conflate doing this for fun with doing this as a long term poker investment as it's highly likely not going to be the latter.

well if your playing 01-02 the trick is the game does not really recognise fullbacks so play wingbacks or players in midfield. I always play sweeper two center halfs, two wing backs etc. its an odd flaw in game.

It's been a long time since I played but from memory you can't go far wrong playing a 4-1-3-2, with the central midfielder of the 3 running up to support the strikers. Pretty much without fail the midfielder with the forward run will be the top scorer in the league.

Always man-mark the strikers with your centre backs if the other team is playing two up front, if they aren't, go zonal and pray.

yeah exactly. Get them going forward. its hard to show on boards limted abilty. Its all built around your cf who will score bag loads

Heading out there at 12 on the Monday myself, make sure you bring loads of stuff to get signed and your camera, everyone bar Tiger and JP are very approachable.

Pick maybe ten mangers from the worlds richest clubs and buy all my squad for millions like so I had 300-400 million in my transfer budget. I would then release all the really good young players off the big clubs and sign them up. Once you could offer enough wages it didnt matter how good they were they would seel their souls. Brought back memories of the very first champ when you could pick Notts County-Tony Batteresby and all those lads and crush through the divions joyously trouncing all teams week in week out.

No, just mount it. Install MagicISO and use that. Right click on the CM .iso file and choose mount. Dead easy. You will have to download and install MagicDisc as well, but it is free and easy.
