Probably an 80% reduction in income for the people in the west and a 90% wealth transfer. So we in the West decide that's unpalatable and do transfers of wealth of no more then 1-2% but with the greater income in the west the gap continues to widen.

Where would you set the bar on wealth transfer? Should this be imposed?

People need to separate what they do in life into two parts. The first part is what someone of your intelligence would do on average. The second part is what you do above what your intelligence group does on average.

It goes without saying that you can be only be proud of, and take ownership of the latter part of your life success. This is what you yourself have achieved. The former part was going to happen anyway and is largely due to random luck.

Now if you consider the fact that a large part of our current success or potential in life is due to the random luck of being born intelligent (obv posters on this forum by its very nature would have a high average intelligence). We haven't done anything to achieve this high intelligence and yet we will end up getting paid more over our lifetimes due to this happy accident.*

* And obv for every one person born with top 10 percent intelligence there is someone born with bottom 10 percent intelligence that society will probably have to look after.

I'd firmly believe that it is just wrong to take all those earnings due to random luck and use it purely for self-gratification. There's just some bad karma coming to visit if that's your outlook imo. For good karma you really want to be donating some percent of your salary in some purely altrusitic charity giving.

Of course any money you've earned due to just applying yourself and working hard, then that's yours for coke, hookers and cake...

When's the last time you were in Ballymun? It's nowhere near the shithole it used to be since there's been tons of money pumped into it. I've been living there over 30 years and have seen it at it's worst and it's a helluva lot better now that it was then.

The flats/towers coming down, along with the closing of the Penthouse has had a massive impact on the number of junkies,alco's and drug dealers because there's nowhere to hang out and deal from anymore. It's rare these days you hear Ballymun on the news in a bad light. There's a ton of other places on the north and southside that are bigger shitholes than Ballymun.

A British businessman is recovering in hospital following the theft of diamonds worth an estimated €1 million from his room in a north Dublin hotel this morning.

The 64-year-old man was robbed by a gang of three armed and masked men who forced their way into his room at the Travelodge hotel in Ballymun at about 12.15am.

A Garda spokesman said it is believed the robbers were armed with a hammer and a firearm.

The man, who is a diamond salesman, was assaulted before the thieves made their getaway. Gardaí said the men stole a suitcase containing a "substantial quantity of jewellery", understood to be worth €1 million.

The businessman followed the thieves out onto Shangan Road, Ballymun, before contacting gardaí.

He was taken to the Mater hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries.

Gardaí in Ballymun are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information about the gang to contact them.

Sorry but ballymun is a shithole. I have lived here for my life as well. And although there are no heroin marchs anymore there are still plenty of junkies everywhere. This place has some good people dont get me wrong but is still a kip. I agree though there are worse places out there now in ireland.
