OK, last post on BL (I promise); BL told us proudly some time back that 'Ireland is not Iceland'. Iceland issued bonds into the market at 5% today and is considered less than half as likely as Ireland to default. We're nearing 'certain to default' territory.

They are after a very different market to the 2 kg on mince steak in tesco market, so Tesco undercutting them doesn't really matter unless they become massive and are seen as a threat (which would never happen anyhu)
World of difference in the quality of the meat id imagine
from the site:
Without looking at it too deeply, looks a decent price considering they are chasing the:
"I buy from the farmers market/quality butchers and like to tell people about it" mammy
and the lad with a bit of money in his pocket who really likes a good steak
+ cutting out the middleman
This kind of stuff has been going on in the USA for years AFAIK
Hope it works for them
A prime example is corned beef, it is one of my favourite dinners tesco stock their own brand and also award winning butchers downeys corned beef which is 2e per kg cheaper like wtf

Id imagine that in every decent size town in UK & Ireland, the supermarkets outsell all the butchers
Originally posted by Hitchhiker's Guide to... View PostBetween quality, taste, and how long it lasts, you're probably paying at least 50% more in a supermarket even if it on-paper appears cheaper.
Originally posted by Loopz View Post£50 seems a bit expensive but the meat could be of exceptional quality, I don't see why people cant just use a local butcher, supermarkets are more expensive and worse quality meat than butchers.

lets assumei owemy company owes the bank (AIB) somwhere in the region of 6-700k and the bank hold very little collateral against these loans. they have crept the interest rate upto an astonishing 12%.
there is 2 scenarios i want to explore here to try and clear this loan
a: iam a good little boy and have never missed a payment regardless of how much interest the bank has charged, even though it is crippling me and i have said this to the banks on several occasions.
b: iam a very bad customer and since the downfall my business has gone to shit and i have not been keeping up repayments on my loans, iam constantly missing payments and when i do make a payment it is probably only half of the agreed monthly payment. i have gone into huge arrears over the last 2 yrs and iam showing little or no hope of paying this back anytime soon.
i have been very fortunate and have come into a rather large sum of money, i now feel i can approach the bank to clear this debt but only if they will make it worth my while as in a write down of the principle and forget and interest and charges that may have built up on the loans also.
how much of a write down could i expect in position A
how much of a write down could i expect in position B
what size writedowns are being bandied about atm for people that owe in excess of a million if the were in a position to clear the loan.

0%
you can pay, they'll laugh you out the door if you try to negotiate a haircut when you have cash on hand to clear it
(ideally, this mysterious large sum of money would be far, far away - under a name that is not yours *)

I, being a chump, spend twice as much to buy them in the farmer's market. These are the dudes who supply.

the burgers are €1 each from the farmer's market in St Anne's Park on Saturdays. Decent market, Rufio I'm sure can back me up on this."We are not Europeans. Those people on the continent are freaks."

The name of the machine you want to connect to should be there if you have enabled file sharing on the folders you wish to be shared.
Just to add that getting an external drive and connecting it directly to the WDTV is much easier and more reliable as you are not subject to networking issues.

I want to start an anti twitter service. Something that makes people write 1000 word minimum messages and then use the post to send individual copies to their followers.

Then from the Vista machine type cmd into the search box on the Start menu
and open cmd.exe
In that type "ping IP address " without quotes and replacing IP address with the numbers from the WDTV.

I'll give you the settings I have on my machines. I've just tested an mkv file played through Network share and it played fine.
Control panel > Network and Sharing Center
Network discovery On
File sharing On
Public folder sharing On
Password protected sharing Off
The others dont matter.
Enter these settings, put a test file in the public folder C:\Users\Public
Restart both the WDTV and the Vista machine and try the Network share again.
Edited to add the login on the WDTV if you get that far is anonymous with no passwordLast edited by niav; 10-06-11, 17:20.

Also I'll say it again but an external drive is really more reliable than relying on the quirks of Windows networking especially if you are watching high-bitrate files.
Glad to be of help.
