Safe mode only loads the drivers necessary to run windows. some malware attaches itself to certain processes or adds its own processes that don't start in safemode. If they aren't running, they're easier to remove and are less likely to reinstall themselves after a reboot.

It runs faster in Safe mode as there is less taxing the processor/RAM.

I can't deny that I admire the way he got up to PL level, takes a lot of graft and no little determination. However at this level his distribution is lacking and his decision making is poor. Why are you paying at all? It seems silly to me to pay $2 for an album that should be costing about $10 when you can get it free just as easily

I'm not a fan of people downloading music illegally. Imo it's causing terrible harm to the industry, far more harm than downloading TV shows and movies.

I've no problem buying from itunes, it's cheap, convenient and you know your money is supporting the artist.

Also, I really enjoy and look forward to buying a few tunes each week rather than simply downloading an artists entire discography. Having simple and free access to every single tune you want seems boring to me, it totally removes the treat.

I like most people devoured napster when I first discovered it about 12 years ago, but that was because of the novelty of not having to get a bus to town to buy a cd single. Itunes fulfils that now for me.

I'd really love if the industry found some way to stamp it out tbh.

I'd be of the completely opposite opinion. The Beatles probably would have played gigs for another 20 years if they weren't able to earn millions in royalties off their admittedly excellent recordings.

I'd be far more concerned about movies/tv being able to continue to supply without the income from dvd sales. I still buy quite a lot, though I'll never be paying €100 for a single season boxset, like I used to not so long ago.

theres more start up bands than ever before now, and they're playing bigger festivals, as theres more of the festivals as the bigger acts are making their big money from them. theres more of a movement towards own labels, and more tours. the only people who are making less money is the HUGE acts, and their labels, which were bullying the smaller acts out of the market. now, its much more balanced and fair, and lets you hear more music.

I was invited by my gf to a dinner party for a Chinese couple she knows who had a civil ceremony before their traditional Chinese ceremony next week. I was given the directions to the restaurant and seeing that it was nearby I rocked up after work at about 5:50pm even though it wasn’t to start until 6 I had nothing else on so fuck it.

First tell-tale bad sign was the sign outside the door saying “All you can eat buffet: €6.99”. I head in sporting the old 3-piece suit from work and am greeted by an assortment of students and homeless people noshing into the meal deals. Waiter spots me straight off and figures I am with the wedding party and offers to show me to the “function room”. We proceed to go up 3 flights of stairs passing what I am reasonably sure was somebody’s living room. When I get inside I throw the suit jacket over the nearest chair and am about to throw the feet up when I am charged by two fucking HUGE rats bearing down on me like the fucking Light Brigade. Me and the waiter both pussy out and make for the door quick smart. When we get outside he apologises and asks me to wait there. He comes back up with 6 other Chinese men in aprons wearing industrial sized black gloves. One of them is carrying a box. The others are carrying meat cleavers.

The 6 lads venture into the room and proceed to make noises that were a cross between a samurai film and a Benny Hill sketch. Meanwhile another punter rocks up with a bucket of water and a sponge and heads in after them. My waiter then starts telling me how he hates rats…unless they’re cooked right… and then proceeds to laugh at this as if nothing funnier has ever been uttered in human history. Meanwhile I am getting flashbacks to the “All you can eat” sign and having horror thoughts of how they keep it so cheap.

Next thing the lads rock out with a look of victory in their eyes and wordlessly proceed down the stairs. The waiter asks me to hang on outside until he sees if the other guests have arrived. I duly obliged. When the others finally did get there and we were shown inside I saw 2 distinct wet patches in the carpet near the wall and I almost vomited on the bride. Luckily I was distracted by 2 sudden realisations. First, I was one of only 2 people in the room who wasn’t arguing loudly in Chinese and secondly the Chinese for “Function Room” is clearly “Karaoke Bar”. I was then treated to 2 hours of renditions of Kiss from a Rose by Seal as well as, most pleasingly, “Rasputin” by Boney M that, and I am sorry but it’s true, sounds class in a Chinese accent. All of this while explaining to a woman who didn’t speak a word of English that I wasn’t eating because I’d had a big lunch and just couldn’t have another bite.
