I must be the only IPBer with absolutely no interest in Cheltenham! I'm sure it would be awesome to be at the course for the week though, have many people gone over? I hope everyone makes tons of money though, lets take from the bookies and pump it back into the poker economy

Feck me, 2nd week of getting up at 7.40am to get to work by 9am, it is as tough as I imagined it would be. Humans just shouldn't be awake between the hours of 5am - 10am, those are the witching hours IMHO.

Poker de Sivola in the cross country ew for me today @ 4pm.
12/1(PP) seems a decent price to me for a 2010 festival winner from a stable that gears towards the festival.
8 year old with a light weight and a good jockey in Katie Walsh who won on him last year.
My concerns are the lack of experience on this course and the poor record of British based trainers in the race.

Whilst I wouldnt become a priest or a monk I think that those who do for the right reasons should be commended. I fully admit to being just too selfish to give so much of myself away for no real profit. My lack of religion is probably another deciding factor.

There are nuns who used to run the private hospital where my Dad does some of his private rooms and they are now admitadly ancient but they ran the place for years taking nothing for themselves and providing the bedside care to elderly patients who were basically checked in with no real chance to get out in anything bar a coffin. In our current health system this type of care is not given and it provides not only comfort to the patient but excellent support to the family. It is certainly not a job you could pay me enough to do and they did it for free. Even if christianity is a crock I think they have themselves well covered in the whole Karma thing overall.

I highly rate nuns and I feel that they are much less corrupted as then their male counterparts but there are bad stories out there I know. I think it is a shame that the order is dying out tbh.

I haven't even thought about it to be honest - for some reason it doesn't seem to me like attending live would be that much of an improvement over watching on TV, unless your countrymen / women are competing or you know the competitors yourself. Actually, that might be a reason to check out the rowing, there usually are a few Irish crews and we sometimes have a chance (less so when China enters never-before encountered crews, who win and then are never heard of again, more suspicious than an Irish horse cough cough cough), one of my younger brother is good friends with some of our rowing Olympians.

Are the tickets expensive? London is so expensive to visit at the best of times, it will be outrageous next summer surely? Obviously one of the top cities in the world though, I don't begrudge the expense too much, wouldn't mind living there for a few years actually

yeah I'm applying for a couple of days of athletics and the footie final. I'm treating my mam as she is a huge sports fan and will love this. Kinda screws up any plans for debauchery with kinky cockney chicks but thems the breaks. I tried to be smart and book flights and hotel online already but no joy .

I was hoping there'd be an 'Arena ticket'. Something which would allow you to stroll from the Velodrome to the table tennis centre, then drop into the weightlifting hall to lol at steriod addicts, watch a bit of badminton for lunch and then catch a few zzzzzs in the squash hall.

+1 on this. ticket prices seem pretty dear tbh. wanted to bring the kids, but the way it's set up, sessions seem to be between 1.5 to 2 hours long and cost roughly 100 for a family of 4 for the prelim days, and over 200 for the QF and above.

i remember going to Barcelona 92 and had a great time doing exactly what you mention. The fact it was barcelona and there was "chocolate" aplenty made it even better!!!
