Hi folks,

Been an age since I last posted.

Is anyone having problems with sending mail from their hotmail account?

Whenever I go to compose a mail I cant type anything in. I can enter to whom I want to send the message to and add attachments etc.

The font seems to be set to tahoma and when I go to change it I get an error message stating 'Windows Live Hotmail was not able to complete this request. Microsoft may contact you about any issues you report.'

Anyone got any suggestions?

watched 2 films tonight, the kings speech and blue valentine.

not really spoilers, but watch them first.

had not heard much of both but, the kings speech is fantastic, beautiful, friendship, a real feel good movie, and also gives a pretty good insight into the workings of the royal family, highly reccomend it.

blue valentine....watched this first, and glad i did, acting from everyone on screen would get a solid score, the story...not sure, it was a story, may not have been my cup of tea, if i had known what it was about beforehand i feel i could have done without watching it, relationships are gona relationship imo.

I have to say i am very proud of myself, there were some great players there and apart from that hand, i really feel i played excellent this weekend!

More memorably got to meet the absolute legend of a dealer that is Brian Byrne, who gave me a key river when I was down to 3BB in the mid stages that ultimately led to the final table.

what pisses me off is I spent a few hours last week reading up on late stages of tournament play as i run into some problems here, its a pity i didnt stumble across pot control then, which i didnt!

from all i put into the last 2 days i deserved to do so much better. people think it such an easy game they can learn over night and its all fun.

its far from it, right now i have a splitting headache and my neck is in bits and my head is fried from hands i have went over and over time and time again!

and throughout the 2 days i would have changed very little..... just that one hand that finally finished me off.

it takes years to learn the art of the game and you learn something new everytime you take your seat at a table!

Michelle congrats on the cash in such a large field with a lot of very good players . I wont say you were unlucky with your exit hand but what you are doing now is key to improving your game . I am glad to see that you are questioning your own play and not your apponents.
By doing this you are realising the leaks/flaws in your own game and are big enough to admitt and learn from it . Keep doing what you are doing and ask as many questions as you want on here and to any decent players you know in real life . You will find most players will always steer you in the right direction and in general be helpfull.

ul michelle. first off I dont think you played the hand terrbibly or anything although your betsizing is a bit dodgy. But there's a couple of important things that you leave out in your op. The first is stack size. You seem unaware of how much chips you had before the hand - or the villain - except that ye both had a lot and he probably had you covered. Also you may have had a lot of chips relative to other players at the table but still been fairly short relative to the blinds.

Your biggest mistake in the hand imo is overbetting the pot on the flop. On a 924dd flop he is either folding to any bet or calling/raising any bet. 12k would have been plenty here imo to get him to fold any ace highs he might have. He's prob not folding any pair or any draw - and there is really only a flushdraw.

Now the turn becomes a slightly gross spot. Before you do anything you should be asking yourself what will I do if I am raised? If you don't know then you should probably check back. You could easily be a 3 or 4 to 1 favourite here - or be drawing dead - so if you bet here you are really only betting to protect your hand from diamonds - its extremely unlikely he has a worse queen- but what should be of more concern to you is protecting your stack. The only reason your hand needs protecting now is because the pot has got bigger than it should. The reason the pot is so big is because you overbet the flop.

You have no reads on villain included either which are important when it comes to deciding whether to bet or check the turn. But when you decide to bet I think for sure you should bet a smaller fraction of the pot than you do. 75k into 80k is just too much. But the pot should have only been about 50k if you bet the flop smaller.



fwiw I dont think much of villains play in the hand. Check/calling an overbet oop without a nut draw is pretty bad imo unless he had plans to take it off you without hitting. He was lucky to bink obv the best card in the deck on the turn

tl;dr
pre - fine, flop - cbet smaller : turn check back, bet/fold : river call/ bet if checked to. Pot control isn't just about checking back the turn - overbets and 90% pot bets will spiral the pot size out of control
