Biggest dilemma i had all week was whether to salute a neighbour or not who had their head in their car boot as i walked by. If you say hello you startle them and if you leave it and walk by your a prick in their eyes when they emerge. You cant win in this situation as i see it.
I left it said nothing and walked on thinking how great it must be to be like Larkin in situations like these.

I suspect Solskjaer is working on a suitable tribute to Bang Bang (30th anniversary today).
His nickname derived from his practice of pursuing trams armed with a large brass door key which he would point at the moving vehicles while imitating the action and sound of firing a handgun.

Gone full 'Glinner' since June 2022.

It would seem Kerry people are still a bit tick....
The global social networking phenomenon that is 'Facebook' has been revealed by Google as being Kerry's number one internet search in 2009. Google – the world’s top internet search engine – compiles its annual ‘Zeitgeist’ survey at the every of each calendar year in an effort to reveal global and regional trends. Online searches for ‘Facebook’ tops the list of what Kerry people have been searching for on Google in 2009. Indeed our taste for social-networking sites is further reflected in Kerry’s top ten with searches for ‘Bebo’ coming in 2nd place. No doubt the people of Killarney will also enjoy the fact that the term ‘Killarney’ came in 3rd place (followed by the bizarre piece of data which reveals that searches for the term ‘google’ – on Google – came in 4th). Online video-share site ‘YouTube’ came in 5th followed by ‘Hotmail’ (MSN’s free e-mail site) in 6th.
Searches for the term ‘Yahoo’ came in 7th place while the term ‘Ryanair’ is most the county’s 8th most popular search term – no doubt aided by the continuing development of services by the airline at Kerry Airport. The county’s appetite for ‘news’ in reflected in its popularity as a search term coming in 9th while the 10th most popular search term among Kerry’s internet users in 2009 was ‘RTE’. Among the fastest growing search terms in 2009 for Kerry users was ‘AIB Banking’ – up 120% - and ‘ItTralee’ which rose by 70% in popularity since 2008. The term ‘Rose of Tralee’ remains the top global internet search term relating to Tralee on Google while the top global internet search term attached to Killarney in 2009 was ‘hotel’. Searches for the term ‘Dingle Marathon’ was the fastest rising search term relating to Dingle (the town hosted its first marathon in September of 2009). One of the top search terms relating to Listowel was ‘Listowel Races’.
When it comes to internet searches on Google for ‘Kerry’ – Kerry, Ireland only came in 5th place globally, lagging behindsearches for UK celebrity Kerry Katona (#1), US actress Kerry Washington (#2), US politician John Kerry (#3) and US actor Kerry James (#4). Facebook was also Ireland’s top internet search term on Google in 2009, multiplying 1,700% in popularity since 2008. Globally, ‘Michael Jackson’ was the world’s fastest rising internet search term on Google in 2009.

I also had no idea there was a casino in Dun L, was walking through there today and had a glance up ahead and saw a sign for Fitzpatricks Casino. Intriguing to say the least, I used to do quite well in the Jackpot tournaments but when they got rid of weekday nitelinks I was essentially faced with an added 25 euro reg fee for every tournament I played. Even with the shockingly low standard of your average JP tournament player, still wasn't worth it.

Had tremendous difficulty staying awake during 127 Hours. I kind of sleep walked into the film based on good reviews and then just as the opening credits started I remembered what the film was about and wondered why I had gone to it. Sure enough it was boring as hell despite the semi-decency of the heavy metaphor to justify making it.
Looking forward to The Fighter though.
In keep with the bare knuckle theme of tonight there's a film on BBC1 tonight with Liam Neeson as a bare knuckle fighter.

(same guy has now been headhunted by another firm and is going very well for himself.)
Go to the event, enjoy it, use it as a chance to befriend those playing with, it doesnt have to be a regular thing, and if it turns into it, just ask is it ok if you just play once a month. Attending is a must though
Cheers for the advice.

Originally posted by Jackyback View PostNo i have not booked anywhere yet, someone mentioned Flaine was decent.
FWIW, the reason i hate flaine is because it's one of those artificial stations/resorts, where some developpers decided to build 4 appartment blocks 2 shops, 1 restaurant/pub and 1 rental shop and call it a resort. i'm sure it's grown even bigger since i went, but it's still going to be all concrete, and really has no soul, and the skiable domain is not very exciting. It also stays empty the rest of the year when there is no snow and is just a pain on the retina for any summer hikers passing through.

it is nothing like ice skating. you point your skis down the hill and if you're still standing after 10 seconds, you're going 30 kms an hour and gaining speed. I learned to ski late also (early 20s), and the first couple of days were incredibly painful (but so worth it!!!).Last edited by shrapnel; 11-01-11, 22:55.

Going here in two weeks, for i think the 5th or 6th time. Love the resort, and very handy to get to, fly to girona with ryanair, and drive up or get bus. cheaper than package holidays, but with fantastic facilities, and a a great school for beginners.http://mobro.co/zuroph

Also, for TylerD: I saw Tron Legacy 3D today before hitting the train to Galway - I was reasonably entertained but would only give the movie a C+ grade, it was really let down by Michael Sheen's waaaaaaaay over-the-top camp character...I wonder if Joey from Friends was his acting coach? 'I like what you're doing with the character, but have you thought about trying it super-gay?' He was as bad as that camp dude from Are You Being Served for god's sake! Otherwise the movie was pretty cool though.
A film called Still Crazy is on TG4 in about 20 mins - I saw it in the cinema back in the day and thought it was decent, if anyone is looking for something to watch and doesn't normally flick through that channel!

Watched the first epsiode of Shameless US there, pretty good. Similar to the US Office in that the opening episode mirrored the UK one almost word for word, probably will be the same for most of the first season before it goes its own way. Hopefully it ends up being as brilliant as the US Office
EDIT - forgot to say William H Macy is Frank in this.Last edited by KevIRL; 11-01-11, 23:28.
