Anyone coming into town for the march today? I don't like the unions, they were happy enough with their snouts in the trough in the good times and I obviously think Jim Corr should be institutionalised but .....

I'm so fucking pissed off with the state of this country and I'm getting to the point of hate for this government.

If we do agree to a 6.7% rate on this €85 billion bailout we are screwed. Thats €5.7bn in cash interest every year on top of all the other borrowings we already have. You're looking at about 20% of our tax take going to paying cash interest on our borrowings. Then we will be running a fiscal deficit for the next God knows how many years which will only add to the debt burden.

I work for a bond trader so I know a fair bit about it. I used not think so, but now I say the senior bond holders should take a serious haircut, otherwise it was capitalism in the good times and socialism in the bad times which is just bullshit. They took on risk by investing in Irish banks and so got paid a higher return over German Bunds. They should now have to pay for their bad investment decisions imo.

The big sticking point is that Irish deposits are treated the same as senior bond debt in Irish banking legislation so we need some way around that. I don't advocate depositers taking any pain.

So, anyone coming in for this march? If so, why and if not, why not ?!

This government has no mandate, no support from the Irish people and yet they are signing our future away with this punitive interest rate, this agreement to continue guaranteeing all senior bond-holders, the "4 year plan" and this upcoming budget. And then they walk off into the sunset in January.

This makes my fucking blood boil .....

You need to be realistic - ideally, yeah, I'd like to have seen that happen 2 years ago but now I think the best route is, change the legislation, fry the bond holders - give them 30/40/50 on the dollar, whatever is market - protect the depositers (freeze withdrawals if necessary) and wind down Anglo, and merge BOI-AIB.

And the game takes an excrutiating 2 hours to play, and afterwards in the break before the next game someone says to me why don't we reduce the amount of chips or speed up the clock to make the game go quicker?

Well Ok you fucking stoned tards, hows about for the next game you don't require 3 shots of a cattle prod evertime its your turn, hows about you don't ask the host to make a pot of fucking tea halfway through a level? Maybe next time when its gets to level4 some of you will stop putting out the level1 blinds. Maybe next time some of your co-tards won't need a 200 word explanation as to why A2 has split with AK on a 33858 board.
Maybe actually listen the next time someone explains what each of the three chip colours is worth so you don't need it explained every hand.
Maybe fucking understand that if its your turn first on the flop it'll still be your turn first on the turn because theres no fucking hyperspace option in this game.

Maybe don't invite your nonpoker playing wife and get her to sit at the table talking incessantly about "I'm an xfactor, get me Dancing Strictly" every fcking hand for 5 hours.

Because there is no other protest organised - this one has numbers going to it. I would much rather go to one that is non-partisan but that one doesn't exist and the one starting in 90 minutes does exist. Yesterday I felt the same as you do but just the more I've thought about it the more I realise how much these pricks are screwing us and the next generation when they have no mandate and no support from the people. To be honest, the public is pretty powerless in this democracy. Most likely the march will achieve nothing but I'm going anyway.

That Anglo money is gone regardless what happens, it's already been used to repay short-term repo's and other debt that was approaching maturity.

Yes, merging AIB and BOI is not ideal. It would be best to shut them both down but we need at least one of them at the moment imo to take deposits, issue and service mortgages and make/service existing loans etc.
