Got this setup in the end. It keeps telling me i need to download Flash to play the bbc iplayer. I downloaded twice, on each firefox just to make sure, restarted both of them but still no joy as it's asking me to do it again.

I have a degree in Electronic Engineering but my experience is in a very specialised area.

I'm looking to do something in Computer Science/Software Programming to basically broaden the sort of positions I would have a chance successfully applying for.

It's pretty tough to find any decent courses tbh. I'm based in Limerick so would have thought there'd be loads of stuff in UL or LIT, but if there is I haven't found the right website

Griffith College and UCD both used to do good IT conversion courses but I can't find either course now, they could have dried up. Depending on exactly where you are coming from if you find the right course and much more importantly have the aptitude for it then with the Electronics background you would be very employable. I'll keep rooting around and if I find something I'll point you towards it.
As I said to Theresa the other night , Software development is something that if you wanted to do it you would probably be doing it already. To get a feel for it I'd highly recommend working your way through K&R as a starting point and see how you feel about it then. You will know for sure whether you want to go for a programming focussed course or not.

You are using the mgeni browser yea?
Does the BBC iPlayer work for the radio channels on the other browsers?

I had problems recently updating the flash player plugin for firefox. After many attempts and searches I eventually uninstalled it, loaded up you tube, and reinstalled it from there.

Strange I use Avast and it doesn't block any of those links for me.

Edit - Actually it wasn't earlier but is now. Must have been in the latest update. The Megavideo links are working fine. Click on the mrbrownee70.com link then click on Alternate Method in red and it will bring you to megavideo page which has the option "View on Megavideo" to stream.

It took me about a minute to set things up to watch bbc iplayer. You just download tor and mgeni (a browser), download mgeni here (sorry if you already have, haven't followed posts too closely): http://code.google.com/p/mgeni/downloads/list

Fire up tor and mgeni, set mgeni to UK (1st time you use these you will have to do something with a password which is clearly prompted and explained) and away you go imo.

Anybody got a good home remedy for mouth ulcers, I've been getting them for years. I find the likes of Bonjela useless and just find putting a lump of salt on them the best way to get rid of them quickly but would like an alternative because the salt method is stupidly painfull and can't imagine it being too healthy.

Long time sufferer too! Have ya tried this before? I find bonjela useless also but this stuff does the trick. It numbs the area unlike bonjela.

I've uninstalled it and re-installed but it keeps happening.

Could be my laptop (it's old), but I'm not gonna use that software again.

I hadn't downloaded mgeni until i read hotspurs post below. That link was working on my normal firefox though.

Sorry about that. Video conversion is pretty intensive stuff. It's pretty slow on mine, even with windows7 64 bit, and 4 gigs of ram.
Was it a full movie you were converting? I know I had problems converting a really long one (>2.5 hours), though it worked fine for 2 shorter files.

FETAC Courses...

What are they exactly?

I had a look on their website but they are pretty vague about how good, bad or indifferent a qualification it is.

Are they worth doing if you already have a degree?

Depends, I know lads that did them straight out of school as a stepping stone into courses they didn't get the points for and stuff and it worked out well for some of them. What are you looking to do specifically? I might have heard something good/bad/indifferent about it. PM if you want.

If you're looking for something to improve business skills/IT/whatever as a complement to what you already have there's probably something more suitable than a FETAC, they're usually used to get into other courses or trades.

They are a national educational awarding body. They award lower level stuff which is below degree level whereas HETAC awards stuff above that outside of the university sector. Here is the national framework of qualifications: http://www.nfq.ie/nfq/en/FanDiagram/nqai_nfq_08.html

The question is what is the course you are thinking about? FETAC don't run education, they just accredit. Some courses would give you a necessary qualification for the profession such as FETAC level 5 certificate in child care. Others look like a load of bollocks.

Came in this morning and the boss turns to me and tells that there is $1,000,000 missing from the company account. Phoned up the bank, and they tell us they are in the process of fixing it.

I did it myself two years ago. I'll prob never use it as I enjoy finance more but it's definitely a good course. There's full and part-time options. When I did it there were reduced fees as it was covered by the EU but not sure if that's still the case.

I'd defo go for a grad dip if I were you though. It's a level 9 qualification (same as a masters degree).

Don't forget the clocks go back this weekend.. One of my earliest memories is thinking people had to return the clocks to the shops to be fixed for some reason.
Why doesn't our clock go back? I'd say to the mother. It did go back she'd say. However I was monitoring it very closely and it went nowhere.
