Quick answer is you might have some albums as .flac files (the whole album in one file) or lots and lots or old .wav files.
use this for .flacs

reimport them with itunes and set them to re-encode on import.
What that'll do is copy the files and set them .aac or mp3 (your choice) at whatever bitrate you want.

This is the closest to push a button.
Effectively you'll end up with 2 libraries and can then delete the old one.
Just be aware it will no re-encode .wma files.

could be on the right lines there! they do seem to have differing bit rates and even music file types (its a collection from over the years), but tbh haven't really looked at music files in a good few years and have no idea what it all means.

You should be able to use Super just convert from mp3 to mp3 and set the bitrate on the output container

I wouldnt think the odds would be that big tbh. Could give a better guess if the person was known. Ive been on skiing holidays 8 times back with the family and im a pretty good skier. If i was given sponsorship, backing, trainer and everything else needed. I can't see why i or anyone else wouldn't be up there in 4 years never mind 8 years for some of the downhill events. Atfer all they say we only use a very small % of our ability.

Obviously it would require you to put your whole life into it tho.

I was just using it as an example - fact of the matter is you need to be the best in the world to compete at the Olympics. im not sure it is something that can be learned and would involve quite a lot of natural talent IMO regardless of the sport

on top of that they will have to actually dedicate a huge portion of their lives to this 8 years of extensive training and unless someone has the kind of motivational personality and drive to actually do this, not even considering they have an interest in the sport, and since they already possess this personality they will already probably be driven to do something they like...

I never knew this as a myth. I knew we used all areas of our brain, but assumed, due to hearing the 10% myth, that it wasn't ever pushed to the limit. (like a muscle lifting a light vrs heavy weight)

This isn't true however. For most countries, there are standards. But there are also quotas based on geographical location. Look at some of the hacks we've had over the years.

Eric the eel swam 100m free in 1:52 in 2000. Anybody who has ever swam would be a lot faster than this. He didn't meet a standard time. He but got in on the quota. Ditto for Snow Leopard

Not always. I know for the summer games at least there are exceptions made for weaker nations to encourage them. That's how Eric mousambanis (aka Eric the Eel) was allowed to compete in Sydney (I think it was). Not sure if the same thing applies to the Winter Games.

For the masses yes, there are also Olympic A and Olympic B times. And then a quota based on number of A & B athletes. And then a right to send somebody (this was the thing with Australia trying to take the irish spot two weeks ago)
The Irish olympic council made a decision to only send Olympic A athletes for the last olympics.


Eric the Eel pretty much proves the "standard" idea wrong. There are plenty more if you need them.
