I was being somewhat ironic, but you've reminded me of good times.

When I was about 18 myself and one of my mates used to spend our hungover Sundays driving around Tralee following the goths that used to sit around looking glum with MMMBop blaring out of the car.

Rather childish really, but very much fun and a great excuse to listen to Hanson (whose later stuff is actually well worth checking out believe it or not).

check the actual tasks and see which ones are hogging the memory. if they're non system tasks and you don't need the application, end the process. if they're system tasks, check if they're essential or not. clean up your start up menu also, as a lot of the time you'll start processes which you don't need at all.

Yep. Weallowed him to have that acoubt to use for pm's that he needed to send but he wasn't allowed post. Obv he couldn't do that, so it's gone now. And no matter how much begging etc he won't be allowed back in the future either

obviously you have alot of things running that you don't need
is go into the startup menu uncheck all the programme boxes and then restrat your computer and the ones that are needed will automatically start and all the rest won't, simples

it might not work for you as i tried this on lappie using XL, and iam running vista, and alot of the stuff didn't start for him like his wireless and bluetooth and a few other things, but easy to find these in the menu and check them anyhow

www.ccleaner.com is a great bit of software. It's especially good if your PC takes a long time to boot up, or if the disk keeps chugging long after your desktop has loaded. Run that and see if it helps. Also run msconfig and untick all the programs set to load and startup that you don't need. Makes a big difference.

friday night i had the pleasure of totalling my jeep . I was approaching a crossroad and got shunted from behind into the path of a pick-up truck pulling a trailor with a big fkn forklift on it.
The person that hit me was kind enough to speed off and leave me with a wrote off jeep and the other guy's truck and forklift are the same .

Open your start menu and type msconfig, in the window that pops up go into the start up tab and remove everything that doesn't look important, which'll be most of it. Anything you're not sure of, googling the filename will tell you what it does. Also remember anything you remove can be ticked back on in seconds, so no matter what stops working no permanent damage will be caused because you can just retick the files, even after the restart it'll make you do

This is a good website that you can use in conjunction with msconfig.

It has a list of 10000+ programs which might be on your startup programs, and explains their purpose and whether they might be needed or you can remove them from startup.

Lots of stupid programs hog your machine at startup - some editor or downloader or videoplayer that you might use twice a year can be spending 20 seconds looking for upgrades every single time you boot up.

The real big difference its probably all about personal choice, Downtown picked himself up a pretty sweet Toshiba laptop the other week for about €600 and said he is very happy with it. The cheapest Macbook you can get is €1150 but it really is some piece of kit but there is no need to splash out but if you can dont just take my opinion on it do a little bit of research and do some good comparisons for both Mac/PC and then make up your mind unless you suffer impulse buying

• You caught the ghey
• You want to fit in hanging out at Starbucks
• You have more money than sense
• You aren't able to work a computer

I can't see anything on that task manager that could be causing your problems. It's probably worth getting rid of most of the Toshiba programs installed. I know when I did a fresh install of windows, Toshiba Tempro was the only piece of their crapware I reinstalled.
I assume you've already used disk cleanup, and defagmented it? 30% to 40% ram usage, should not be a concern imo.
