Hey guys. I dont know much about online poker so Id like to ask some questions to help me get started.
I was recommended to purchase pokertracker and table ninja. Are they easy to use? If I buy them and download them to my computer do I have to pay for them again for my laptop?
What is the difference between pokerstars and pokerstars france? Can I play on both sites or whats the story?
Any extra advice on online poker for a novice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers for any feedback. If you're not in, you can't win

You get a license to use them on 2 computers so your ok. Do you really need table ninja as a novice ? Other may be better poise to answer but id gues not

Pokerstars.fr is considered softer. You need to give bank details i believe once again other poised to answer better.

Id say post hands here a lot and be able to take it if your told your playing hands terrible.
Cheers for any feedback.Pm for rakeback deals

1st i would play without trackers and see if you are break even at least and then invest in a tracker if you feel the need..

make notes on players/ keep notes on self and records of what games you are playing which are having the most return/good Bankroll management and leave ego at the door

hello folks,
i have been playing poker on paddy power for the last year or two and feel i have done ok, according to topshark pro im up 16 or 17k. would prob be a lot more if i stayd away from sit go's.. what my question is how accurate is this topshark, doese it take into consideration rebuys when it calculating your stats.. (i dont think so) so is there a better way to keep a more accurate acount..? i know im wining a few bob but it sure aint as much as this topshark says... is there a better way to keep track of what im doing. im only a recreational plyr and play for fun mostly. any sugestions? all top shark done was inflate my ego which in turn gave me the delusion that i was a better ply than i am,, this is my first post so not sure if its in the right place if not let me know.Last edited by liffy; 27-02-12, 21:36.

Pretty sure if you get holdem manager or poker tracker that they keep track for you.

Sharkscope has you up $10k which is probably les accurate. If has you down for 2 x $500 games that you probably sat'd into. Same goes for the $215 games etc. You'd also played a dew $100r and even if you just buyin and play it as a freezeout, it's recroded these at $265, $259 and $252. It's always miles up and i'd think the figure is closer to your topshark figure, so wpwp

Plus, I'm not sure why you think a 9 wins you the hand

i may have exaggerated the time it took to call.. the reason i took so long was because he was talking alot.. telling me he had nothing, then saying he had top set. i didnt listen to him but i was talking to him during his all in..

There is not much play in such a short stacked game. It's just about picking the right hands to shove and call shoves with. This will give you an idea of what hand you should be shoving with to be unexpoitable: http://www.holdemresources.net/hr/sn...alculator.html . Just plug in how many bbs you have and it will give you shoving and calling ranges.

I was at an event in Cork the other night, and there was blackjack tables there. That reminded me that I'm near enough Cork city now that I can go to the casinos. I've never bothered before because I'm not willing to invest that much money to get good and I wouldn't even be bothered paying for a taxi home from a casino. I've played freerolls online before and a few games with friends but I've never played in any way seriously. The freerolls I generally start out well in, but then get over-excited and/or bored and play something stupid. When playing with friends I've done ok, but no-one is in anyway a serious poker player, and we're usually boozed up.
My questions:
Is it possible to learn how to play in a casino? There's a place nearby that has freerolls (on quiet nights I'm guessing.) Is it alright just to pop in and have a go in one? Do I admit I'm a complete newb and get a bit of hand holding?
The freeroll I'm thinking of has a rebuy(?) I've read enough to know that in some tournaments people are willing to sacrifice their free chips early on on a semi-decent hand in the hopes of people folding and them picking up the blinds, or they have a chance of someone going all in, lucking out and doubling their stack. With the rebuys are people likely to try this in freerolls or is the payout too small? (I don't even know what the payout is, I'm guessing a ticket to a tournament with cash prizes.)
What do you do for a smoke break? Whenever I've played with friends we either smoke in the house or everyone takes a smoke break. Do I just wait until the blinds have passed me and go speedily? Will the dealer post the blinds for me like in Online Poker? Or would there be a break (how often?)
Anything else I should know?

The dealer will always help if you're stuck and he will put your blinds in if you miss. There's usually enough breaks involved for you to go for a smoke, but if not, most people wait until they post their blinds before heading. I'd rather miss my blinds that miss my button/cutoff.
Go along, get a rebuy or 2 and have some fun. There's bound to be a lot of really bad players there so try and spot their mistakes and don't make them yourself. You'll only get better and feel more comfortable the more games you play and this sounds like a good place to start

The blind is the first bet. Comes from limit holdem where re-raising would be 'making it 3-bets' to go.

If it is one of the first two cards dealt out then it's a mis-deal, otherwise all cards are dealt out as normal and that card is replaced by the first burn card, only after the TD confirms it is the card a player thought he saw. The card is shown to the table so all players have the same information.

I’ve an old VC poker account, under mothers name, which I virtually never use. It’s got a couple of grand in it and no payment credit card associated with the account this stage. I haven’t made a withdrawl for 4/5 yrs on the account and it’s been practically dormant of the last no. of yrs.
Can I just enter the mother’s cc details in the withdrawl section and take out the cash or are there likely to be hassle/ further information required by the site at this remove?

BRAND NEW TO POKER
hi, im brand new this is my first forum so i hope im at the right spot, here goes,im playing poker nearly 2 years but never for serious cash just a fiver or a tenner at mates houses.recently tho after some bad beats and good snearing the games have become some what competitive, about six 6 months ago the price of our games went up to 20 bucks so that started my quest for poker knowledge,my bro recommended playing the free roles on poker heaven for practice which brings me round to my question 'how good am i really'..i qualify regulary for the free roles, highest finish was 3rd for a euro and 5th loads of times, i never won one outright but do see plenty of the final table. is this good enough to keep betting me hard earned...

Welcome to the site
First off try to break your long posts up into paragraphs if future as it's torture trying to read a block of text and will have more people reading it
So to be honest trying to judge your skill level via freerolls really is pissing against the wind,
If your looking to improve your poker game I would definitely recomend really doing some homework by checking out some poker training sites like Dueces Cracked
(I'm to drunk to link any or give you more but google it and loads will show)

Interesting one for you folks.
I was playing a $2 Turbo freezeout on stars. I was pretty deep with about 170 left of out 4600. I had about 15BB (Decent stack at the time) when I had some other commitments for 30 minutes. I phoned my mate and asked him to cover for me for that time. He did, and when I got back in after 30 minutes there was 70 left and I had 8BB. I phoned him and he said he has his aces cracked and lost a flip, but was down to 4BB when he took a gamble with 96o -v- button raise and it paid off.
I ended up winning the tournament for a little over $1400. What is a good % to give him?
Cheers

The way you discribe it is that you had to do whatever so you phone him to log into your account and play from his computer and when you got back you logged back in on your, is that how it went down?
Stars are usually on the ball with switching IP address and mac id's mid game so I'd be very caution how you step not to get banned and have the loot confiscated but if you get the cash in your hand I'd say pay him 10%Last edited by Donkathon; 04-01-13, 11:54.

Trying to open PokerStars account and the account info won't take/accept my home phone number. Tried with country code 353 before it/ without it, with and with out a zero at beginning ect and no luck. When it shows my details before verfication the phone no has no zero in it i.e 021 xxx become 21 xxx in the verification process and it fails and asks me to retype no.

Losing €50 a week still adds up to €2,600 a yearr so it all adds up
The reason why you shouldn't be trying to learn via freerollls is that nobody plays them seriously their just a bit of craic so you'll have people calling your all ins with stupid hands etc
Take a week off from your home game and deposit the €50 onto boylepoker or pokerstars and stick to €1 tournaments, the play in those would still be atrocious but a shit load better than the freerolls
