The missing numbers in all these shooting tragedies is the actual teenage perpetrators. These kids mostly die also and these probably needed a great deal of help before losing their minds.
Whilst I agree of course on gun control. Only a bullheaded unfeeling (or at least narrow brained) person would advocate otherwise. More needs to be done on the mental health issues that must be at epidemic levels for these types of attacks to be so prevalent.

I suspect though Trump needs to hit rock bottom in order for America to come to its senses.

I've noticed you always are deliberately referring to him as "President Trump" yet its not President Obama or the Honourable George Bush. Hillary doesnt even get a Mrs. when speaking of her, let alone other titles she had/has?.
The reason this stands out to me is because as someone who has met a US president I can tell you I was not sure how to address George Bush and ended up babbling a bit and it has always stuck with me since then.

It is not such a common convention here. Neither Mary Robinson nor McAleese retain the title in common address. Giving Jack the most generous possible interpretation I would imagine he is applying an Irish convention to an American equivalent. A mixed protocol, certainly, but harmless nonetheless. You are technically correct...the best kind of correct

Trump is the President of the United States. As was Obama and Bush. It is common convention to refer to all US Presidents, past and present, as President. So Bush will always be President Bush and Obama will always be President Obama.

The whole gun control thing just makes me so jaded. Trying to read articles and comment on the whole scenario and I often just have to stop reading it’s so despairing. I’ll attempt to go back then and read more and it’s the same again. I’m so so happy I was raised in Ireland when I was. Every year that goes by makes me happier that I didn’t have to be bombarded with the stuff in the US.This may or may not be an original thought of my own.
All efforts were made to make this thought original but with the abundance of thoughts in the world the originality of this thought cannot be guaranteed.

I'm not sure most people would think they are sick or something is wrong with them naturally. It's endemic of the society that they live in that they occur.
I feel pushing good initiatives like this will help society get past this(poledancing for the elderly to watch in their care homes), probably a direct result of Riggs working with the elderly:

Shortlisted for permanent associate professor interview the week after next. Would be an underdog to get it. After 13 years of contracts, I'd probably go on a Domaine Romanee Conti bender if I somehow manage to wangle it.

I bought someone Catan a while ago with the Cities & Knights expansion and they love it.
Birthday coming up and I'm thinking another game.
What do you(or Tar) suggest?
Preferably a game that's best played with 3 or 4 players and takes a similar length of time to grasp.
Basically don't suggest Star Wars after you said how long it took to learn.
I liked the sound of the Alchemist I think it was called.

I love that self flagellation spirit of Arsenal fans, that mature willingness to accept that sometimes things are shit. It seems to be unique to them in top flight football terms.
None of that peurile tribalistic yawn inducing bullshit you get from Man Utd and Liverpool fans.
It's like it's rugby they're following.I hold silver in tit for tat, and I love you for that

Liverpool fans when on their own have over the years been full of the morose realities for a long time, although recently it has been entertaining enough to be positive a lot as well thankfully.

Pandemic Legacy also has the advantage of being about now as opposed to the fantasy setting of Catan. Takenoko would also show them a bit of the whimsical side to boardgames and it's a great game with very little learning. Pandemic Legacy game 1 is quite straightforward and then gets progressively more devilish. On balance maybe Takenoko for the audience but Pandemic is a better game. The Takenoko artwork is also fantastic. King of Tokyo too for an alternative highly popular Japanese game.
50-60e seems around the budget, thanks for that.
