The flip side of it is that everyone is expected to contribute to the fullest of their ability. In return we receive a fair share of resources for what we put in - not an equal share thats communism, there is still class indifference and pay structures in socialism. Ireland is actually quite the socialist ideal when you get down to it as the halfway house between communism and pure capitalism.
Benefits cheating is in a lot of ways more against the theory of socialism than capitalism which allows you to put yourself ahead of the whole.
No contribution = no share is pretty much at the core of socialism.
It is why socialists demanding that only the rich should contribute in income taxes is pretty funny - it is the exact opposite of what is supposed to happen.
