I've been playing cash games and tournaments in a Dublin poker room for some time, but recently have decided to give the tournaments a miss.
My reason for this is I cannot stand sitting at the same table as a certain individual. This individual, albeit a good player, is a constant motormouth. He is vulgar to women playing poker and to female staff, never shuts up swearing at the top of his voice, and never stops rambling on about his life or what he did that day or what he is going to do tomorrow. There are a few people who entertain him but mostly he makes players and staff feel uncomfortable at the table.
I've tried blocking it out, I've tried using headphones, I've tried other poker clubs but nothing works for me. Also what he does is not a tactic to get an edge on people, he is just a loudmouth.
Has anyone any similar experience? Do you think if I requested to the TD or poker manager that I not be sat beside this person they would oblige? I do miss the tournaments but this person plays there every night, and its just not enjoyable for me when he's there?
My second question is regarding Pot Limit Cash games V No Limit Cash games.
I didn't know about live NL cash games till last week when I played at the Winamax festival. I had only played PL in same club as above. I found with NL you actually have more control over your stack and more control over how you deal with opponents. I absolutely loved it.
From what I know all cash games in Dublin are PL. Why is this? Or am i wrong - are there regular 1-2 NL cash games around?
I've tried to think of reasons why a club would rather have PL but I cant really see any. Rake would be similar and from what I felt I was far more able to manage what I won or lost in NL. In PL there are too many times you find yourself calling because of value. I can maybe see drunkards with a couple hundred would be in and out in seconds, but wouldn't this attract more players increasing active tables and in return, rake?
Thanks
Mick
