Question for you RDIII (or anyone else). What price a move abroad yourself? How much more net income would it take for you to up sticks to France for example?

Before becoming a Dad I could have answered this question reasonably easily and it was mainly age and opportunity dependent but it's very hard to answer now...

The net income bit probably not as important as 'quality of life, especially schools' imo.

Made a half-hearted (as I wasn't really sold on it myself) effort to think about S.A. relocation when it was offered. I have lived and worked abroad in the past so I don't feel like it's something I have to do.

Funny you mention it though; was talking about this with Mrs DIII the other day and she is highly open to the notion of an American secondment for a few years. I personally would love to do Australia again. Probably the best thing about the current role would be that I could do this fairly easily. Kids would be the biggest barrier though; children hate change. Son would probably die if he had to give up his soccer club.

Starting to fell left out with all the people doing online courses with various ITs/units at work. Could count on one hand the amount of people over the years who have got significant promotions /pay rises out of it,a lot of it seems like a racket.
Not knocking education/bettering yourself and its prob something I should do but I'd need to be pretty certain of a solid benefit before dropping 4 or 5 k a year on one of those, I'd say unis are cleaning up as it's seen as something you have to do nowadays .Working yourself up from the bottom seems to be becoming increasingly difficult without having your pieces of paper

The OnePlus 3 is top class, can't recommend it highly enough. I've had the OnePlus 1+2 as well and the jump in quality is very noticeable. It was not available recently because of European demand though I think it's back up and running now.

I still occasionally get cravings, usually a day or two after I've been exposed to smoke. Comes in a big wave out of nowhere and disappears after a few minutes. Very annoying.

The smell disgusts me, i had the hand movements, things to do etc for a few months but i know i will never smoke again. Dont miss the smoking one bit, the act itself...i mimic sometimes with a pen, just to get that throat hit, i tell people i didnt smoke for 25 years because i hated it. I have put on weight, a nice bit, but ill wrestle that demon elsewhere.

I suppose its like an alco, the guy who goes off the fags knowing and truly believing he will never smoke again does so because he knows, just the one will put him in the ground.

How hard are cigarettes to give up? Smoked for 3 weeks when I was 12 and realised what a retarded habit it was. Both my parents and two sisters have given up only mother has an e cigarette. I am an anti smoker stinks and smokers smokers seem to just throw butts everywhere.

Depends on the person obviously, some people find it hard to stay off even when they do. My mother is one of those, whereas my sister would have just quit and that was that.

Wish I smoked, the smoking area is the place to be from my experience.

Feel the time is right to jump into a new entertaining documentary series where you feel you've learned something by the end. Thinking maybe something history - ancient or medieval not those fecking World Wars - any ideas? Ideally something with the production qualities of BBC or HBO rather than some dude in a basement on youtube.

Civil war broke out after the Arab spring to oust the evil dictator Assad. Rebels started fighting the regime, and whilst that was happening ISIS crossed the border from IRAQ, helped the rebels here and there and took control of a massive swathe of eastern and central Syria (which Assad couldn't protect). The west is on the rebels side and bombs ISIS, Russia is on Assad's side and bombs the shit out of the rebels (and civilians as the rebels are in the cities).
