The tennis in the Olympics h8ers can move on. Every major player who was fit went. All of them played doubles when they never normally do outside Davis Cup. No way you can look at the final, Djokovic in floods of tears etc and not say a gold medal means as much to them as a slam.Last edited by cooker3; 15-08-16, 15:23.

Btw if you think BBC are bad with British athletes. Try Colombian TV when a Colombian athlete is competing. They go absolutely mental. When a Colombian guy won gold in weightlifting, I think they were shouting drop it when 1 of his rivals was lifting.
Colombian is leading women's triple jump now so excitement galore.Last edited by cooker3; 15-08-16, 00:56.

But no interest in media to take them down

From lane 8. Now, he is the World Champ and I don't (nor RTE could) understand how he got drawn out there so him winning isn't unprecedented. Clearly a case of an odd draw creating the context for a crazy flat out effort sans any tactics."Worldly wisdom teaches that it is better for reputation to fail conventionally than to succeed unconventionally." - John Maynard Keynes

He was 25 seconds faster in Rio than he was in London.
He was 4 seconds off the Olympic record.
I imagine the fall cost his 4 seconds at least.

But early pace is irrelevant. He had to run low 27:05 to beat Tanui and the others regardless of what they split for 5km. If they were faster earlier with the same finish time, its no harder for Farah to catch them.
Records and medals are based on the finish. And the fact is that Farah fell and still ran one of the fastest Olympic 10k's ever. For that reason it's really an awful piece of evidence for the "not on drugs" argument.

Would really lose something if we didn't have Jimmy Magee losing his shit or stuff like Neville Maxwell in bits on RTÉ.

Quorn have got to be happy with their return on Farah. Mycoprotein keeps the legs going obviously.

I'm guessing he missed out on getting really decent money, being a mid/late 90s footballer. And mustn't have had the face/voice/attitude to get a gig in media post career.
Using streetview the sheer ordinariness of his house stands out compared to where footballers live nowadays.Last edited by ArmaniJeans; 15-08-16, 10:38.

She just flew between the two bars.
I remember the 1988 Seoul Olympics so well and was a big fan of Svetlana Boginskya. Turns out her, and nearly all the top gymnasts from that time are training bloody Americans now! No wonder they are so good.
On the beam, not a wobble any time, flawless. Even at this years olympics they nearly all had a wobble at some point on it.

I think the rings are class, serious power I loved.
I've been playing around with some rings in the gym and they are dogsled to use.

The first four episodes of Stranger Things have been pure gold. Story line, pace, sets, script, acting, fun references, atmosphere etc. Just has everything, particularly for an 80s kid like me. Please let the remaining episodes live up to the glory of the first four. Please.
