Rather annoying situation, I bought something online for my friend in another country. She lives in an apartment block of a few hundred people. One morning it was attempted to be delivered and she was not there, so the postman gave it to somebody in the lobby passing through (rather than bringing it back to the post office or giving it in to the official office in the building), and wrote the number they said they lived at on the slip. Now my friend went to this persons door and they said they don't have it, acted really suspiciously and guilty tbh. So now my friend is kinda stuck and this was important to them. Either this person is lying and has it, or some other person said their room number and has it, in a building of several hundred people.

The post was basically gave the package to some random person (not even a neighbour) that may not even have lived in the building, they say it's the fault of the sender (an online company) for not specifying that only the receiver can take the package, while the sender would say they sent it so it's not their problem.

Out of luck it sounds like.

I won't say this time it's different Denny because it's not. You just need access to decent ones to reduce the risk and go in with your eyes open. We did a wind energy and a medical supplier one last year. Heavily asset backed and simple business models to reduce risk as much as practicable. We advised clients to just do 25k in each and build a 100k exposure to EII schemes over time (where the client was worth 2m say).

Worth considering if you're paying a lot of income tax IMO.

Yeah as long as you can afford it and you still have a good lifestyle it's pretty good.
I may be getting to accustomed to spending all my net. If it hinders my lifestyle too much I CBA because I'd rather have fun in with money when i can life life to the most then 40 years from now. Suppose just have to find the right amount to put in.

.25 * gross earnings probably equals roughly 35% of your net income. 30 years of that plus a 2% real investment return plus the old age pension will likely give you in excess of 65% of your current net income for life indexed for inflation to retirement.. Is that enough for you?

Couple that income with a reduced lifestyle, your housing needs taken care of etc, you should be pretty comfortable but that's for you to decide.

The answer is usually yes but if you're day to day responsibilities remain the same (i.e. you're still essentially working in a job) you can't just decide to declare yourself self-employed effective from X date.

MrsV keeps fastidious records and does the VAT returns herself etc. Plus her guy works from home and has no impactful tie or shiny shoes and rejects clients who are a "lot of work". Proper company accounts need a whole lot more admin work than personal tax returns. 2.5k isn't bad unless the company has literally only a dozen transactions or so.

Obviously depends on impactfulness of the tie tho.

We do index tracking lifestyle pensions from 0.263%p.a. BUT that assumes the employer pays some admin/regulatory costs and includes the Revenue recently being forced to stop charging VAT on that. Lol at the minister bleating about fees and dipping her hand in for VAT and the ongoing pension levy. If you want different sorts of investment strategies you'll definitely pay more.

An individual going independently will likely pay from 0.65%p.a. upwards. More money = lower cost with a good adviser. Smaller punters typically pay 1%pa. plus initial charges if they are being robbed.

Rake in EIIs depend on the particular scheme. 2-4% from what I've seen.

2 tax returns with no rental income or shares can be done for buttons. The accounts assuming audit expempt are time driven so if you have a lot of transactions then you will pay more. Summarise your bank and invoices this will cut the cost.

I have a degree in physics, some actuarial exams, QFA, RPA, MIIPM, grad dip in financial planning and am about to be awarded Certified Financial Planner status. Combined value = fuck all.

The bottom line is I have 14 years of experience and I stay on top of my niche. I also believe that I have what they now call on job specs "executive presence" which is an important factor that I'm looking to exploit in a much bigger way over the next 24 months.
