Yeah havent been there in so many years but it was straight from a taxi from Bath Avenue as we thought we would soak up the atmosphere in Slattertys pre game/during game but instead it was still packed during game and shit and so we hot footed it back to town and got out adjacent to Doyles so went in.
The good thing is it was seen by a probable shareholder at the bar and his co-manageress. I think its a sort of gift but i seem to be able unbeknownst to me to bring out the absolute worst in people at times and this fellow bit and let flow.

Haven't played teh pokers in a year, feeling the urge to get a game in. Was going to go to a local $200 monthly game on Friday, probably stupid thing to do being so rusty and given most of the players will be Spanish. Never set foot in the casino here so I don't know what to expect with the lingo etc.

When I became vegetarian I ate almost no vegetables and only meat at the time, I hated them all, my diet was mostly steak. As people at the time said, the most unlikely person they knew to become a vegetarian was me.

I liked more and more as each year passed. I only started liking tomatoes and cauliflower this year, onions a few years ago, mushrooms the year before that and so on. I do not think anybodies tastes remain static, and that the better served and more often you have things the more you like them. There is also a marked difference in a childs taste buds and an adults. Also people in Ireland could not cook for fuck at the time.

Don't remember the first time I got drunk either but I do remember my first pint in a pub. I was going to see UB40 playing in the RDS in 1986. Met up with a few people and went into Fibber Magees (the Ivy Rooms back then). I was 14 years old and they asked the usual question, "what year were you born pal"?, 1986 minus 18 is ehhh, 1968, yeah Mr. barman I was born in 1968 sir. They seemed impressed that I knew basic maths, maybe the northsiders going in there couldn't figure out how to take 18 from the current year.

I had 2 pints of Smithwicks and I remember walking down O'Connell street towards Eden Quay to get the number 7 bus thinking to myself, "fuck, I shouldn't have had that 2nd pint".

Kinda like asking what's a good movie, it all depends on what mood you are in. I read a lot, mainly thrillers/crime/sport biographies but I am reading "A Short History Of Nearly Everything", right now and as a layperson to science I find it very interesting. A bit like watching a Stephen Hawking documentary.
After that I have the next couple of Jack Reacher novels lined up on the e-reader so back to mindless violence then.

Yeah, absolutely brilliant story. Revenge books and movies are the nuts, overcoming personal injustice and all that. Maybe that's why I like Jack Reacher stuff.

On a similar vein, "Without Remorse" is one of my favorite Tom Clancy books, I don't know why it hasn't been made into a movie by now.
