Will the new casino licensing laws affect poker in the casinos in Ireland?
I was wondering if the 15 table limit will apply to poker as well as the house games?
Any thoughts?
The draft legislation does not mention poker as distinct from house games. I have doubts however that this was an intentional decision to explicitly include poker tables in the limit. We just don't know. Entirely possible the drafters have never set foot in a casino.

Hopefully they would have been lobbied heavily by the Fitz and Jackpot about this

It is proposed to cap the number of casino licences which may be in operation at any time at 40 (there are currently 34 "private members' clubs" registered for the purposes of Irish anti-money laundering legislation).
This point is also interesting. A Town like Clonmel may have 3 such premises which is ridiculous.
The OGCI will be required to establish criteria to ensure a regional spread of casinos, and will be required to publish details of the criteria which will be taken into account when determining whether a locality is appropriate for siting a casino – for example, casinos won't be allowed in close proximity to schools, health care facilities, etc.
Does this not safeguard tournaments?
One-week licences for professional gaming tournaments – applicants must be admitted to an OGCI approved "whitelist" of organisers to be eligible to apply for this type of licence
you'll probably find many of the 34 registered private members clubs are already closed & many others would never have been registered
That is what interests me most really.
40 seems like a ridiculous number
Munster should have one in each county and would be more than enough. Im not sure how they would decide who keeps the license in the case of two card clubs been in a town/city.
I also seen the alcohol can be sold in the place but cant be consumed in the casino area which may aswell just outlawed it.
This is your chance to get in on street level of his plan to get a casino licence. Definite consultant work for someone with your experience of casinos, Tipp. Could be pricey for him though.
Is that how you crash a wedding? yes it is, Bionic Barry, yes it is.
