We're back at the track for Day 2 of the Aintree festival. Unprecedented scenes here yesterday as two-time winner Eoghan104 defied his advancing years and rolled back the clock to lead the field at the conclusion of Day 1. All the more impressive when you consider he had been retired to stud after last year's emotional success. Let's see however can he fend off younger, fitter rivals on Day 2 where the going has turned testing, especially in the ring where newbie bookie Hitch sometimes confused style with function leading to irate encounters with several cheesed-off punters. Harmony was established by the end of the day with the bookies well ahead of the game.
There's a host of challengers in the pack with New Approach in a clear second, this multipurpose type having finally figured out his ideal conditions. He'll be hoping to make America great again today for sure. Southern raider ElShambola looking to make the long trek up from London pay too and he got off to a solid start. Not much activity from the rest of the pack on Day 1, with many opting to keep their powder dry for the bigger pots. Cheltenham hero rounders123 should probably be put away to grass, his exertions there clearly having drained him. Sitch likewise might want to consider a wind op. Keep an eye out for French raider Shraaaaap who's rumoured to be keen as mustard.
