So even with the 11.5, hurricane fly is just over 200 length better than Istabraq yeah? Thats pretty impressive. I'm surely backing him now.
There's bits and pieces missing from the article I took this from the first 4f or so are actually closer to 16seconds per 200 yards.
The great Yeats (we all know was an exceptional horse) could do the first furlongs in 12 and then 11 flat for every other furlong over 2m4f he was exceptional though.

That would be why I mentioned him. More or less saying its an impossibilty for H.Fly to have done similar sectionals. Jaysus I'm sorry I opened my mouth now.

Even on the concept (ignore that actual figures), it's hardly that ground breaking to discover that a horse begins steadily, settles and then quickens at the end of the race

Point taken and noted. Its pointless me continuing without the article really it compared times etc. Like you say the layout of such a race is hardly groundbreaking news.

Even if he did every furlong in 12, then thats still a good 100 lengths faster than the fastest ever gold cup (as in ascot gold cup.)
Wooooo racing. Hills going 11/2 about Joncol in the lexus chase. Nolan says this horse is at it's best when a track is as close to unraceable as possible and he'll certainly get that at Lep today. It's won all 4 races entered that have been officially on heavy ground including dual GD1 wins. The 3 miles is going to take some getting here, it's the ultimate stamina test and the stalwart Joncol has it in bags.

Was thinking of heading up from Limerick.
Handiest way to get there from Kildare side?
Couldn't be easier, just go southbound on the M50 once you get there, and it's just off the M50 then, clearly signposted. I'm thinking of heading myself.
He is currently shocking value for the Champion Hurdle, havent seen the race yet.
His price is reasonable imo. Won today doing handstands and will improve for the better ground. 3/1 is value and I'm sure if he bolts up in the Irish Champion Hurdle he will start about 2/1 for the big one.
Fun day out in Leop, lost big on Zaidpour early at 2/5. Pretty dissapointed tbh, but I'm not discarding him as a big Chelt prospect yet, prob be better going in the Neptune, looked like it needed a little further.
Made most back on a HF big bucks double. Impressive enough from Hurricane fly, Solwhit always looks so compfortable, cruising on the bridle but lacking that killer turn of foot when needed. HF has never won outside Ireland and it's all well and good saying he'll take to the Cheltenham track, not saying he won't but there are contenders for the champion Hurdle who have proven to excel around Chelts. Definitely the race I'm looking forward to most though. The stayers hurdle seems like a bit of a stagnant division bar Big Bucks, doesn't seem to be much there to even make him break a sweat.
The thing I was most impressed today was Robbie Mcnamara's ride in the big PP chase, incredibly talented young rider and a superstar for years to come IMO.
HF was mightily impressive today, but it was totally inconclusive as a CH trial. A 5 runner race on a flat course ran on heavy ground with no pace is a far cry from Cheltenham in March. Cutting him to 3s is an overreaction.
Anyone rented apartments in Cheltenham for festival? Or experience of staying elsewhere?
Stayed in the Marriott hotel in Bristol the 2 years i went and got a ~30min coach to the course every day.
So excited every morning you dont mind and on the way back i was usually asleep from the fighting through the betting ring for 3 hours and shouting my head off.
Also a strip club round the corner from the hotel.

I've done the hotel thing, done the staying with friends thing and for the last 3 years I have stayed in a house a bit out (Leckhampton). It's much quieter but suits us as we have an elderly man on the trip with us.
There is a nice village feel to the place and its only about 10 mins walk to chelt town. About 30 min walk to the track (all up hill ) but its a good way to start the day and get the previous night's drink out of the system.
This is now stolen to make me sound witty when brutally putting some one down in front a large group
that's up there with 'you are the weakest link' for originality. Best not to use it (depends though some arsehole of nowhere might not have heard of it- like Monaghan)
in the 6.15 meydan Mendip sets the standard but Storm Ultralight has the scope to become a very good horse and this surface will bring out the best in it. Forget its last start when it didn’t handle Goodwood and at 14/1 it is worth an EW bet

If you have nothing good to say then its best to say nothing.
the tip ended up 11/4 or somethin i had a 10er each way at 8's
did anyone see davy russell on big secret today at thurles today? distance out in front, got him way too close to the last and fell....really feel he's gone downhill he seems to need a jetplane to win a race these days, plus im sour cos he ruined a lucky 15 for me. on a more positive note had a nice few quid on bishopfurze, he's hurdling isn't great but gets job done....seems to travel well...finds under pressure as illustrated at punchestown fest last year.. surely he's a horse for the future over bigger obstacles?
I'm tired and slightly tilted right now so I won't go into detail, but 15/2 on Forpadydeplasterer w/o Kauto strikes me as a superb ew bet. Thoughts?
I thought the best value was the Nightingale ew at 33s but hes been hammered into 10s over the last few days but interesting to see what he is tomorrow W/O Kauto. Not big into backing W/O fav's but if a snazzy price i might.although il prob just go ahead n take 10s n hope Kauto gets hiccups half way round the 1st circuit

Never, I want Kauto to win this as much as I've ever wanted any horse to win a race.

don't think he would get home in a horse box imo. Looks like a little bit of desperation to try him over 3m at this late stage. I used to believe that he was a 2m 2f horse... staying on over 2 and not quiet getting home over 2 and a half.
They will go a good gallop throughout and there will be no hiding place in this race. The only thing I would say that if you are having a bet on paddy without then usually i would advise somebody to back the 'each way' in these without fav bets (if Kauto is placed in the first three then you get paid for 4th) but not this time. I think it is a clear case of win only without the jolly. If he runs a cracker and gets 'nursed' into the race then I suppose his class could get him the runner up spot as you could spend all day picking holes in the rest of them. But if he is being asked for full effort before the straight I can see him being a very tired horse and fading out of the picture...and out of the money.
Riverside T for me (without). Loves the track and the stable are in ridic form.
I hope every horse racing lover, irrespective of what they backed in the race, give Kauto the respect and applause he deserves if he wins the race. It's surely his race to loose

Prob a bit of truth in CHD's drunken ravings in terms of backing at this time of year were your basically playing Russian roullette with horses fitness, especially not knowing how the long cold spell affected respective yards. Also hard to know trainers intentions in their effort to get the horse peaking for the big festival in March. So I'm going to be a spectator until Chelts and then until the real racing starts up again.(flat)
King George is the best form guide for Cheltenham- 19 festival winners have come from KG fields since 1989, including the last 3 Ryanair winners, and I can see a lot of trainers today saying 'he didn't make that, I think the Ryanair is our preffered route. I'd side with Nacarat or Planet of Sound if I was getting on w/o Kauto with preference for the former.
I think the bet of the day is Starluck in the hurdle. Binocular won't like the ground and this is starlucks big race all year. Murphy said he is stronger this year too and its all systems go. He went close last year with only Go Native pipping him. 5/2 looks decent in my eyes.
Well, you never know what will happen with Kauto Star, it is a small field, so I will go for a mad gamble on the race and go for fiver on the nose and a score to be placed on Albertas Run @ 33/1.....
ps. This is not a tip, I did not get word, I just don't know.....
