I think China has always struggled with knowing what sort of venues to put these events in - they experimented with posh hotels and now have moved onto gymnasiums. Snooker in the UK was lucky to have working mans clubs, then graduated to tight boxing venues and then theatres, all of which were good fits for watching. Not sure if China has these sort of venues or whether there's other factors behind the supposed millions watching on TV yet no-one turning up.

Crucible seedings confirmed.
Good to see Selby and Ronnie in different sides so the dream final is on.
Qualifier draw here, 1 player from every set of 8 will make it, and then play a randomly drawn seed at Sheffield.
Qualifiers start on Wednesday.
Annoyingly 3 of the Irish players are grouped together (Slot 29-32) so only one can get through. Though Matthew Stevens probably wins through here anyway.
Outrights.

Opens it up a bit for Ken (last Irishman involved) as he faces Greene instead of King, and then potentially Stevens for a place at the Crucible.

I think Holt is a moral certainty today to beat Slessor.
Runs over 2 days for anyone thinking its a quick buck.

Last 32 draw done this morning.
Doesn't look to be any qualifiers who'll potentially go deep, though Ryan Day has a favourable looking path.

Seeds that i see having a bit of trouble in the first round.
Quarter One - Don't see any of the seeds being troubled.
Quarter Two - Would love to see Thepchaiya Un-Nooh put it up to Higgins, but Higgins probably just 2 good. Bingham could struggle against Lisowski if he shows the form he's always promised. Walden will beat Brecel.
Quarter Three - All seeds win, with McGill being pushed the furthest
Quarter Four - Hard to call Carter v Dott, but the other 3 seeds should win comfortably.
Bar Quarter 3, the seeds have to come through some tough games to reach the semi's so it's going to be a tournament full of decent matches.

...Some shock there...Selby had been looking well coming into this...Bookies may as well pay out on Ronnie now...
...Edit to say- if O' Sullivan doesn't win this tomorrow morning and he is out with Selby, it'll go down the as worst possible weekend in snooker with regards viewing the next 2 weeks...Last edited by luckforsome; 21-04-18, 23:53.

Wouldn't be the worst thing for snooker to have a 20something first-time winner anyway.

If Ronnie bites the dust today it gets really interesting.
Judd will go fav despite not making a final in 2018 and being a perennial bottler in majors. Ding hasn't done a whole lot of late either. Higgins should really be fav in that case as he's got the pedigree and in good form.
Of others you'd have question marks over everyone, happy for my Williams outright bet but still question his stamina. Robo rarely plays to his ability consistently these days. Hawkins will prob be there or there abouts but lacks conviction and wears the valiant loser cap very well. Wilson still need to prove himself capable of getting over the line.
Might add Bingham at 50's. Made a few finals of late so form isn't too bad and I like the cut of his gib, his focus and temperament the year he won this was impressive.Last edited by The Situation; 06-05-18, 07:32.Profit before people.

Stevens 8-3 down v Wilson.
In the balls in the 12th frame, and calls a foul on himself for touching the pink with his hand. Loses the frame

Neither looked like a foul to me. Must be tough when you're an honest player if you think you may have hit the ball, or grazed it when it a hair, or heard a weird sound at such a stage in a match.
Fair play to him for owning up to what he thought were fouls, but you got to be kicking yourself if they actually weren't.
