    One chip rule

Blinds, 100/200, utg calls, folded around to SB who throws out a 500 chip to join his 100 SB, utg argues that one chip rule should be enforced as SB said nothing. Surely that rule doesn't apply here as he is making his total bet using more than one chip?

    That's a raise to 600.

if he took the 100 back first and tossed in a 500 then, it would just be a call. Player should really just say call in that situation if thats his intention, to avoid any confusion.

UTG was correct. The single/multi chip rules apply to the players action, not the total number of chips out there. It’s a call as he put out a single overchip.

He could have pulled back his SB, but he isn’t obligated to in order to call.
