    "Wheels of fortune"

A not overly interesting article in the Sunday Indo -

    http://www.independent.ie/opinion/an...s-2817631.html

    Cliffs
Guy goes to sporting emporium, spends couple of hours there, wins a bit at poker
Goes on to Fitz, loses at Roulette, doesn't like the company at blackjack, witnesses a 'fight' or altercation at poker tables, joins poker tables.
Leaves for home at half three in the morning having made 240 euro profit.
Doesn't know what the term 'donkey' means when applied to a poker player.

I wonder, what does the term 'donkey' mean when applied to a reporter?

Ugh well this thread is a massive disappointment. Thought by the thread title it was a new exciting IPB game

          MickSte?

A ginger man in his early 20s joins the table. He looks the part. Headphones partially on, tinted sunglasses at the ready, and a confident swagger. It's a familiar sight; he seems symptomatic of the modern young gambler who wants to make gambling his occupation.

While I find the players in the Fitz to be potentially more abrasive (than the Sporting), I've never seen anyone squaring up to each other. Suspect the journo is talking out his ring. Has he even put his name on the article?

Getting a bit bored by these rehashes.

              Needs more semi-colons imo.

                The writer is Craig Hughes.

I have heard of a few fights/people squaring up to each other but that happens in a lot of places.

                  Ginger = no dice
                  Early 20's = acceptable

The usual lazy bullshit from these articles.

"The lack of windows makes it hard to know if it's day or night and the bright lights and air conditioning keep the fatigue away.
I only stay at the poker table for an hour; my watch tells me it's 3.30am"

Obviously losing the run of himself slightly if after an hour in the place he can't remember if it's day or night.

why is everyone talking shit about this article, its not aimed at poker players or gamblers but at people who have never experienced poker.

tbh i dont think its too bad. fairly accurate if you think back the first time you went to a casino. he played for an hour i the fitz. an hour is a long time if you are not used to playing poker for 10hr+

In my opinion its a lazily written peice of "journalism" and to be honest it almost looks like he wrote in at his desk 5 minutes before it was due.
