If interested in non-poker related content, I also have some guests from others areas or disciplines (mainly football). These podcasts will also be posted on the channel. Football podcast playlist is here

If you enjoy the content (or just want to do me a favour!), please subscribe to the channel. It's much appreciated and really helps the channel grow. Thanks.

EDIT: you can now listen on the podcast player on the website here. This means you won't need to keep YouTube open while listening and can have it playing in the background on your phone. It's also listed on Spotify (easiest found by searching Jamie Flynn).

          Miikka Anttonen

Miikka Anttonen discusses his transition from professional poker player to writer, and shares advice for current and aspiring poker professionals.

Miikka is the author of the epic TwoPlusTwo thread "My somewhat different poker story" which ended up inspiring his memoir "Once A Gambler". Both are excellent reads and if you're a fan of well written tales of degeneracy and debauchery, I'd recommend checking them out. The book is available for free download for the duration of lockdown.

Our conversation mainly revolved around Miikka's transition out of poker and into writing and he shared some good advice for current/aspiring poker professionals. We talk about poker in the context of full-time vs part-time, staking, personality traits best suited to poker, and advice for any players considering transitioning out of the game.

Just took a listen: well done Conor

                              With regard to the episode:-
                              1. Too much 'effing' =not good
                              2. Editing badly needed -shorter is better in my view

                              Well done anyhow

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, the episode length can be a tough one to get right. When editing, if I'm unsure, I generally leave things in. There's timestamps on the YouTube video so people can navigate to certain parts and skip others if they like. I generally think around 1hr15 mark is a nice sweet spot. Or would it be better to keep it under an hour? I've tried a bit of a different format for some recent stuff that will be published soon (more interview style than conversational style, questions flow a bit faster but answers are bit less in depth), would be interested to hear thoughts on that.

As for the cursing, I try to keep it clean where possible but a bit does slip in. I remember hearing somewhere that people who curse more are also more honest, so that's my excuse if I overdo the bad language!

I've been reading your podcast for a few days now, and I like it, go ahead. I would be interested to learn about similar moments from poker and casinos. I have recently been on an extended lockdown, and all I had to do was play in an online casino. I wouldn't say I like it. Yes, a few times I got together with my friends at my house, and we played live, but I still dream of getting to a place like this https://gangnamholdem.org since I can't stand these ugly interfaces anymore. I don't understand why people play online poker instead of real poker. Personally, it is tough for me to play poker without seeing the faces of other players.
