Don’t know where you’re getting that from - I’m privileged in relation to housing and life in general- no debt or envy in that regard- I just don’t believe I’m a genius because of my good fortune and have no desire to see the majority of people after me have the ladder pulled up away from them by greedy parasites.
It’s getting to the point where it’s getting genuinely hard for me to argue with Una mullalley articles thats how badly FG have fucked up.
but I guess it’s easier to just paint those looking to switch to Sinn Fein as “bitter” and entitled (I think Sinn Fein will be disaster.

there’s an ignore button- you should use it (like the fragile RDIII) if my posts are affecting your mental health- that way you won’t see my nasty attacks on vulnerable sectors of society like rugby fans , the horse racing

I’ll admit though that I am pulling myself of mightily at the ongoing disintegration of rugby- great watching the English premiership fall apart. Declining attendances in Ireland encouraging too.

get a warm glow knowing that soon no responsible parent will be allowing their kid choose to play a sport with brain damage baked in if they keep at it not going to apologise for that. Rugby doesn’t have enough money to just keep on keeping on like the NFL

I guess she would be in with a decent shot if it went to the member poll. Although Rishi did get a decent 43% of members to vote for him the previous poll against Liz.

Its the BBV rant thread . Chips on shoulders also welcome no?

My latest annoyance are parents who stop on the road outside schools blocking the whole traffic with their hazard lights somehow offering a venting amnesty . I was on foot Fridsy and still got peeved by a selfish fucker blocking the road .

That's fair enough comment, perception is reality and the perception is that FFG have failed to deliver on housing but the idea that putting a gang extreme populists with an unwashed history of political and criminal violence being the answer is off the wall.

For all of the bleating of people like O'Brion and Hearne I don't see anything more likely to deliver in the short term than just getting units built and on the market asap.
There are no simple answers, for all we know it's possible that with the amount of building nearing completion and the forthcoming economic cycle we could find ourselves unable to fill those homes and back with the ghost estates of barely a dozen years ago.

I'd agree on the first part. FFG can clearly do better in so many ways. Unfortunately their opposition still have shady ties to the past and that's going to need a generation to disappear. We're kinda stuck with our lot in that respect. SF will get in eventually but how they perform remains to be seen. Regardless of party or historical precident, all politicians should be held to the highest standard possible.

For the 2nd part I disagree. I don't think the scale of building and irresponsible lending is anywhere near the celtic tiger days. In my area pretty much every development is small scale and sold up promptly. 30 units of social housing were tagged onto the end of the cul de sac where I live over the last year. They're are a couple of other similar sized builds nearby with the same story. At present we don't have the labour force and in particular skilled tradespeople to build at a scale that would lead to ghost estate. My regular plumber gave up domestic work as he's been able to name his price for consecutive public/business projects and is booked out for next 12 months. The majority of secondary school students are incentivised away from "dirty", "menial" and "poorly compensated" appreticeships for trades. There's an element of snobbiness to it also.
                          .
In my previous gig we'd take on apprentice electricians for a manufacturing based role. Four years later they'd mostly be out the gap for a smooth €50k role such is the demand. If they decide or have the aptitude to pursue the automation/robotics route thereafter, the sky is the limit. Their contemporaries who went to 3rd level for any degree most certainly weren't walking into €50k roles, even the ones who went straight to BEng mechatronics/robotics. There was one exceptional kid I remember seeing start his 3rd year industry placement in automation/robotics. They were throwing money at him to not go back to college such was his natural ability and work ethic in the space of a skills shortage. He was flown to other sites abroad for projects and ended up only going back to college 2 years later to finish his degree out. Digressing a bit but we're short on many skills in the country particulary construction/trade and advanced manufacturing.

                            Am down in Phoenix.

24 hours of driving in two days.

The drive from Great Falls to Helena was legitimately like middle earth. There was one stretch where eyes were bugging out of my head at how incredible it was.

Stayed in Salt Lake City, the Mormon bastion, for one night. I have a buddy living here (non-mormon) and we caught up for breakfast and he was telling me that the Lake is all but drying up due to diversion of water for agriculture and that he thinks he will be outta there in the next 5 years. City did legitimately look beautiful though, its sort of hemmed in between the lake and massive mountains.

Then the drive through southern Utah and Norther Arizona over the Colorado river was the total opposite of Montana, desert, but beautiful in its own way. Stopped in the most remote of remote gas stations and the chap behind the counter, a native chap, recognized my accent as Irish immediately. I asked him htf he knew that, "Oh I grew up watching Youtube videos from that part of the world, so I can pick it up pretty well".

Then the drive from Flagstaff to Phoenix, I don't think I've ever driven down hill for that continuous length of time ever, American speed limit of 80mph made it feel like a rollercoaster.

All in all, 12 hours of driving per day with the pup in the back listening to podcasts and just thinking about stuff while enjoying vistas I'd never really experienced... would recommend.

Phoenix now, I would live here forever. Maybe I will.

Good to see you’re not falling into the trap of going to “America” but staying in one city for the duration, it’s a such a vast and different place when you get out of the standard cities. Whats the plan for the rest of the trip?

Oh ha, I am staying here for the next 6.5 weeks. I'm down here since golf is year round and I want to get out and talk to as many golfers and golf pros as possible before xmas.

Think Sunak is the sexiest PM ever. I mean I've never liked any of them, but he's just so cute, and I love how awkward he is when interacting with the public. Having no policies, and not doing TV bits is genius too.

In US presidents, I've never gotten how so many women have a thing for Clinton. The only one I liked was Carter, but I would me more in my mind to go for a cup of coffee and a chat than getting wasted and shagging.

Something to do with Italian tax system charging property taxes on property owned outside EU .

He's having to deal with some amount of bureaucracy and shite. The worst has been his job which exposes more of the folly of Brexit, its a complex story that he's in the middle of dealing with it but basically in a multinational company who want to hold on to him it's impossible to transfer UK- ITA but UK - IRL is just about doable but doesn't really work without another IRL - ITA transfer within the short term.

Lex just dropped a podcast with Kanye. I got a little over half an hour in before deciding to give up. He is completely off the rails, I haven't been following the stuff around him recently and I've never sat and listened to him being interviewed before but he seems extremely mentally ill. He is so all over the place and completely off the reservation that I am surprised Lex has published it as it feels quite exploitative watching him completely unravel on camera.

Question for the all knowing BBV, it seems my TV has died in some capacity and isn’t worth fixing.

Based on the room size, I know Samsung’s online suggestion was 43inch and don’t need it to be any bigger.

LCD vs LED vs OLED and so on, not sure here.
I was thinking it needs to be Smart but on reflection Netflix, Disney & Prime are through Sky and we only use them seasonally.
NowTV falls into the same category so maybe the Smart functionality not required.

Not looking for optimal viewing experience. TCL seems to be good value?

If you're a google/android person try to get a true "Android TV". I got a Sony 4k (not a top-line OLED) a few years back and it's been a great purchase. The integration with apps and devices is just a bit tighter for me. You can also use Tivimate and all of the usual ITPV apps along with "casting" ability from chrome/apps/mobiles/laptops etc. Cheaper alternatives to Sony are Finlux/Panasonic/Philips/Sharp/ElectricQ. If Android or cost isn't a compromise, LG is de facto the best brand overall. Ultimately they produce the majority of OLED displays for all OEMs. OLED is the gold standard.

The hierarchy of quality or important features for me is: OLED > HDR10+ > HDR10 > the rest. Assuming you'll be buying 4k if you're looking at 43/50". Try to squeeze in 50" it's worth it IMO. I got an HDR10 screen at the time as I didn't want to pay an extra €500+ for OLED.

Ultimately if you can lump for OLED the picture quality, sharpness, contrast etc is peerless. Otherwise, HDR10 for modern games consoles and the native Netflix/Amazon/Disney in 4k is well worth it. The apps running directly on my Sony always run smoother and snappier with higher quality than through the Sky box. The same will be true with any of the other alternative brands above.

Last point on this. If you can borrow an old TV or sit tight for a month you'll get a Black Friday deal.

That, and 2 decent hard drives will probably set you back £350-£400 or so, depending on what you go for. 2 x 3TB western digital drives should be more than enough. Built in torrent client too.

I'm sure there are cheaper options out there though.

It was fine the few times I needed it. You can buy an ethernet adaper for the firestick if it's critical speedwise. If it's an older Chromecast both WiFi and CPU could be the limitation tbh.

Processing power on the media server side was always my bottleneck back in the day. There's probably a raspberry pi/NUC or some other small factor device with enough juice to run plex as a server. Storage can just be an ext hdd or even a cheap mini NAS. There are NAS products now marketed as Plex servers like Synology but they might be pricey or overkill tbh.

However I bought some equipment lately and told him it was very expensive so please don’t hop it off the wall or throw it down the stairs. I overheard him muttering to himself and he was probably choosing something to destroy as I was coming up the stairs . “ Not that as that is very expensive “ There is HOPE, there is HOPE.

I'd be tempted to see him at a smaller venue in the hope of getting a topless pic with him in the afters. No way I'd go to the Point Depot(sic) to see him.

Probably a lot more appetite for having the bag dropped off to me rather than me going to get it. Be a doubly shit experience if I go to collect one and its a bad bag. But if its dropped off I prob try again.

Also if you are not totally happy with your purchase , the eathos (had to) of the idea might mean you will probably eat it anyway as after all. The plan is not to waste food .
