I lost my matchplay last 16 round yesterday morning. We were both playing really poorly tbf. It was over and back until the last couple of holes. Had an eagle putt from the fringe on a par 5 and got a tap bird for the only highlight where I had not even a solitary par. It's so crushing as it was probably my 2nd worst round this year and I still should have squeaked over the line.

Likely shot about 99 or so, this is only a few weeks from shooting 84 and 88. Also, I had 4 pars in the first 6 holes on Saturday on a society day away from home which I ended up winning with 33 points. Just when you think you have something figured out, you realise you actually don't have a clue. What a game to kick you in the balls

Got insurance. Car turning up at 3pm. I presume it comes with a car motor tax disk? So can I just drive it straight away? Or there's something else needed.

shot a 90 myself yesterday and won the unofficial comp for a few quid. Very happy i was able to consolidate on the 88 a few days earlier. Handicap though took a beating and am now down to 18.9

Doing a twitter experiment and replied to Leo this morning full of praise for him and his work. Should be fun.

Looking at brokers for avant at the moment and see this in the fees in one, am under the impression that most just get paid commission by the bank and would not want fees? Is this the case or what would the percentage be that are like that?

              "MORTGAGES

              COMMISSION

We currently receive commission from lenders up to a rate of 1% of the value of the amount borrowed (subject to certain ceilings). The actual amount of commission will be disclosed within our statement of suitability and will be included in the ESIS (European Standardised Information Sheet) which will be forwarded to you by your lender.

Commission is paid to us upfront one month after drawdown. In the event that you redeem your mortgage during the first 3 years, the lender will clawback commission paid to us on a reducing scale over the same period. In these circumstances and at our discretion we will in turn seek a refund of that amount directly from you.
              FEES

We charge a fee of €250 for advice, preparation and submission of your mortgage application and a further fee of €250 upon receipt of approval. This is a total once off fee of €500 (not per lender) and this fee is non-refundable. This is not in any way an indication of mortgage/loan approval. Our fee will be notified to the lender who will include this fee into the calculation of the APRC (Annual Percentage Rate Charge).

If we provide mortgage advice and obtain a loan offer on your behalf and you subsequently do not proceed with your mortgage application through our firm, we will charge an arrangement fee of €500 for our services.

Please also note that some lenders may charge arrangement fees in certain circumstances. If this applies to you these fees will be specified in your Loan Offer. You have the right to pay this fee separately or to include this in your loan amount. Typically, this situation arises in relation to specialist lending.

If we provide mortgage advice and obtain a Loan Offer for you and you subsequently do not proceed with your mortgage application through our firm, we will charge you an arrangement fee of €500 for our services. In addition to this, we may in certain circumstances charge a fee for arranging a mortgage on your behalf. This fee may range up to 1% of the loan amount depending on the type of mortgage and time spent and will be advised to you upfront and in writing if this applies."

I'll send you the broker name that was sent to me by thechamp. He is ridiculously good. No fees if its a referral.

That's it, you're not in one-off territory and proved capable of hitting a sub 90 round again. I've no doubt that getting to below 15 is possible for you by the end of the season. Strokes shaved ftw!

I broke my 7 iron practising at the range last week. It's the 2nd iron from the same set that's failed this year in the same place (just above the hozel). I've no comeback as they're 2nd hand. Going to get the local club builder to take a proper look at them but I was advised to get fitted for a new set .

if it’s Taylormade it’s 100% worth a shot sending an email and explaining the whole thing. (Maybe you’ve already done this and got told no and if so obviously ignore).

15 seems ambitious! but happy with 18.9 as always considered anything on or below bogey golf was decent.

re your clubs, if they're falling apart and you need new ones, it makes complete sense to have a set fitted

I'm pretty sure when I bought a car from a garage I had to go to the local tax office (county council building) to get it done. For whatever reason, it had to be done in person. Also needed to bring logbook and insurance. After that, it was all done online. This was about 6-7 years ago so I'm not certain if the process has changed much.

Well 14 bogeys and 4 pars.....? I think it's doable for you. This game is gonna have me bankrupt by the end of the year though

He was saying that electric cars are walking out the door at the moment and they're starting to think of petrol and diesel cars as cars that need to be sold quick before the bottom falls out of the market. Maybe a desire to help me justify the purchase, but he had just bought his dad an electric using the company discount, so seemed to be speaking to the truth.

You won't go wrong just eating those to start.

I like to soak the rice in soy sauce then all in to the mouth, followed by a piece of ginger and a tiny bit of wasabi.

It's like baby driving - a single pedal. Press it down to go fast, lift it to slow down, foot off to stop. No need for a brake pedal (although there is one) or the handbrake. So everything in the drive just flows.

Lovely feel to the car. Nice and spacious, feels very decent quality.

The epedal, which I guess is in a lot of cars with different names but the same intent.

You won't go wrong just eating those to start.

I like to soak the rice in soy sauce then all in to the mouth, followed by a piece of ginger and a tiny bit of wasabi.

Would probably get a slap for eating them that way in Tokyo.

He's correct in that electric is the future. But it is also talking bollox in typical over eager sales fashion.
Ireland is probably behind the rest of the world in electric car infrastructure. It's better here, but I'd still need to see more wide spread adoption of charging stations before I'd consider it +EV. It's been a while since I've been back, but don't remember seeing many public fast chargers the last time. Maybe in business parks and the like.

On that note. What charger do you have? I imagine quite a few people are getting screwed on the fine print there. Promised 2 hour charges on the forecourt, but managing 24 hours at home.
I know your not likely to be a high distance user, would still be good to inspect that.

There's a lot of terrible drivers out there who just need to keep it simple.
Many people report similar the first time they drive and automatic. Feels like a go kart compared to a clutch. I imagine the latest ones have more sophisticated brake assist.
I've used a car share for about 2 years, since my own was mangled by a truck. One of the cars I use regular is an electric, the other is an auto. Both have drive assist. Which makes long highway drives a doddle. Similar to cruise control, but instead of maintaining a speed it tracks cars around and adjusts speed. You go from doing 120km on the motorway, down to 80km without even noticing.

Obviously the like of Tesla take it to the next level.
