I'm losing a battle of wills with the scales.

Moved it into the dining room as a visual reminder and motivator..it just sits there silently judging me as I scoff a 3 in 1 from the Chinese.

Cant fool the fucker either. I'll do my weigh in, sigh with disappointment then in a conspicuously loud voice say something like "well that's the weigh in done for the day i'm off for a walk", "yep no more weigh ins for me today" and leave the room.... peek around the door, rush back in and leap on it now that it's got its guard down, only to be crushed by a sarcastic "One at a time please" readout on the LED screen, the bastard!

I make no secret of my love for the fairer sex however boringly enough the ol porn doesnt do much for me . As for Everest porn. Any man that can do that with a solid chilly willy deserves the admiration of all sexual inclinations.

My trousers are getting a bit loose after this blast of exercise lately.

12st 9 now and definitely feeling the benefits a lot more in the last week or two. Was a solid 6/7 weeks of pain at the start but seems to be paying off now. Need to find a bigger hill than the Alpe de Howth Head.

Peas off. Mushy Peas with brown sauce are today's version of the ol pigs feet after a few bevs although I admit I'm a weirdo when it comes to food. I was mocked years ago for cooking 1 turnip on it's own and devouring it. I went through a turnip phase.

Somebody mentioned home automation in here the other day (think it was DP). In fact it's probably come up a few times.
I've now a few smart enable devices at home. So starting to try connect them to a holistic system.

                                        Questions for anyone with a reasonable sophisticated set up are;
                                        1. How are you connecting/integrating these to a singular system. All the manufacturers appear to have a standalone app. The easiest thing seems to be to integrate these apps with "Home" app running the virtual assistant. Just wondering if there is a better way. Is the likes of ITTH worth it?
                                        2. What devices are best bang for buck? Particularly if unexpected. Obviously the likes of lights are a must.

Look for devices that are Thread enabled. Thread is a (future) home automation protocol.

Dont think I could skip lunch in fairness. Well, maybe on an easy work day. Sounds interesting, sort of like wifi mesh, where adding more devices improves the strength of the network.

I was thinking about blinds earlier actually. I like the idea of automated roller blinds. Up with the alarm clock. Down at sunset kinda thing.
Cheers for the offer, but unfortunately because all of the windows in the apartment are also sliding doors that we go in and out of. I don't think don't suit roller blinds.
I have vertical blinds now, not sure if they suit automation as easily. Not sure though.

it is an excellent watch when you know the people,a real comedic masterpiece.

It still gets an airing every so often in my local where a lot of the cast would drink.

Am I the only one in the country to think the HSE are crazy to keep on with the We'll never pay a ransom shite?

I've huge sympathy for management and the IT people but shit happens and to some small extent it will turn out to be their own fault. If it was feasible not to pay then they would be up and running already. Just pay the man his money and get live again tomorrow.

Afterwards you dust yourself down and tighten up your IT systems consider it an expensive and humiliating lesson.
These attacks will continue as long as those who run them can get paid so easily and without consequence.
There is a strong case for delegitimising anonymous cryptocurrencies that are designed with no other use case than allowing criminal launder money anonymously.

It is up to the EU, US and anyone else who has leverage to go after Putin -no one runs scams like this without him getting his cut - and other operators as long as they don't face consequences the problem will grow. Keeping the HSE in chaos for weeks because of some moral high ground posturing isn't going to help anyone.

It is exactly 1 month to the day since I've had a drink after Lazare posted here about his own drinking habits. Amazing what a small conversation and thinking will do to change a habit you fall into. Feel better, less sluggish, sleeping better, not eating as much shite that goes along with booze and football is back so hopefully I can shift the weight with training back on.

Cheers for the offer, but unfortunately because all of the windows in the apartment are also sliding doors that we go in and out of. I don't think don't suit roller blinds.

What defi is trying to do is cut out a vast amount of the bureaucracy that has been built up around the handling of money and finance (the borrowing and investing of money). This bureaucracy exists primarily to extract benefits rather than add benefits.

defi aims to remove this bureaucracy and allow a free movement of money and finance. The proposed benefit is this is (1) cheaper finance, and (2) more convenient and better-administered finance.

There is no inherent reason why a centralised system could not do the same as what defi is trying to do, except that an incumbent system never wants to give up its ability to extract value. That includes central banks which get resources and power from managed that system.

Isn't a substantial portion of the costs KYC/Compliance/AML. I can't image that defi will be able to just go around that.

                                                                                  Comment

Certainly on the left, Palestine is the cause celebre that seems to resonate above all others. Certainly since apartheid was defeated. No other international cause seems to get the same traction - not the Uighurs, not the Yemenis, not Ukraine, not Syria. We even had those two prize useful idiots, Clare Daly and Muck Wallace, rushing to stand up for the mass murderer Assad this week.

I'm fairly sure it's not generally anti-semitism, although you do get the odd whiff of unconscious bias off some commentators. Up to and including the inevitable Godwinism.

Actually this would be a fun counter-factual. Imagine Israel unilaterally withdrew from the West Bank tomorrow. Who would replace them as the bogeyman of international affairs? Would it just be kneejerk anti-Americanism? Or something else?

He's a bit out there. it's a clasic tale of long lost old age wisdom, recently rediscovered. But he agues that we should be nose breathing during sport, like Sanya Richards-Ross.

But on the other hand, when I was in East Africa every time I bought a sim cards/did anything official, it took five people, and about an hour to get done. Time had no meaning. I accidentally left a guy waiting for over an hour, and it was like nothing had happened. So maybe the entrepreneur drive is not there.
