All I see is dozens of hares running from them as they light them up.
Not sure of the exact rules but they shouldn't be taking down anything that birds would be nesting in since about the 2nd week of march and that would include Gorse. The hares will probably be ok as they don't need a lot to set up home, its birds that have a big problem when they lose a nest.
I saw a big farm cleared last month and they were still burning the piles up until last week but all the clearing had been done before nesting started.

Last year a farmer near me had to apply for permission (not sure who he had to ask) to burn out gorse from a few acres he wanted to improve and was initially refused and is now setting up a habitat area with nesting boxes and is only allowed remove the gorse incrementally. I must ask him how hes getting on with it, it is certainly going very slowly.

I think I'd be ketchup in this case, although I'd be a brown man in most sandwich applications.

That Guardian series 'The Perfect...' is one of the best cooking and food blogs going. The way she is looking at a single dish and how various recipes approach a dish gives great insight and inspiration for experimentation with some standard sounding dishes.

Tesco sea salt and apple cider vinegar (ridged) are a quality crisp.

I keep chef in business through brown sauce usage. Can't really stand the other brands.

How dare you! Not one crisp has passed my lips since I made my decision. Not one. It hasn't been easy, but for me, I find it easier to cut something out completely than cut down.

Seabrooks are the nut ridged crips. Aldi have them sometimes.

I've never had a crisp sandwich. I don't disdain them, and if someone put one in front of me I'd certainly eat it as long as there wasn't a horrible flavour like prawn cocktail in it. I've just never had one. Same goes for chip butties.

Some top ones for me are Tayto Bistro salt and vinegar, Sensatsions balsamic vinegar & caramelised onion, thai spicy rings in the black bag. Oh yes.

Keanes chip butty brings me back to the humble wedge roll. A staple of many a Naas CBS student.

My wedge roll as a teen was fairly disgusting. Butter, a ton of egg mayo plus a hard boiled egg or two, sweetcorn, cheese, wedges, ketchup.

Neither of you have ever had either a crisp sandwich or a chip butty?

I don't think I've ever been so shocked in my life, that's fucking mental, are either of you actually even real people (yes, I know I've met you both in real life, but I'm even starting to question that)

Years ago, when I was in Sydney, we were labouring on the building sites. We'd be collected at 6:30 and do a 7am to 3pm shift. Our lift would drop us back off in Coogee where we lived and there was many, many an afternoon spent in the CBH sinking jugs of beer before hitting up the chipper and shop for bread on the way home to make chip butties for dinner.

It was a great time to be alive.

My doctor told me I had high cholesterol, so I went to a nutritionist and did a lot of reading about diet. I cut out trans fat completely and cut down on as much saturated fat as I could. A couple of months later I got tested and it was normal, but also I could really feel the difference, I had a lot more energy, I felt a lot better.

I don't eat that healthily, I just cut out the really terrible stuff.

I know people who do this. It's so joyless. Everything on a plate should complement each other so its defeating the purpose to eat things separately.

I generally like things to be in proportion on a plate. If I have rasher, sausages, eggs, puddings on a plate, I'll usually end up with one bite of each left towards the end. Not always as It's not a 'thing', but usually it works out that way.

I cut out trans fat completely and cut down on as much saturated fat as I could. A couple of months later I got tested and it was normal, but also I could really feel the difference, I had a lot more energy, I felt a lot better.

I don't eat that healthily, I just cut out the really terrible stuff.
Trans fat is so bad for you, the EU limit it in processed products and the US banned it. Apart from in animal products cos they can't really do that. Those kind of fats and dietary cholesterol all add to blood serum cholesterol somewhat afaik.

Saw someone comment about flushing with wine etc. I am just back from a specialist appointment with a Haematologist here. They are trying to determine if I do have Mastocytosis or not. They think I have, but it isn't easy to catch as the thing they look for Tryptase is present during a reaction of mast cell activation.

I have always flushed with alcohol, I think JBravado got to see it at his daughters' Christening after only a mouthful of white wine! I flush, I can swell and it is horrible.

But I also take reactions to many things, like medicines, insect bites as well as alcohol.

Basically, the condition causes a load of histamine to be released at the one time. And you can have horrendous reactions. I have been hospitalised many a time prior to this and went into anaphylactic shock.

Just putting it out there as there may be others with this condition that haven't been tested.

Today I got so much blood taken I was passing out! But they have special chairs they do these blood tests and where they give chemo, that they had me upside down in seconds. It wasn't pleasant. But they need to try and test for various things and there are certain tests they can do which might hint at the condition.

So, if you sound like me, you should get it checked. My issue is that I am on beta-blockers and they block adrenaline, and you need that if you have a bad reaction. So they are trying to get to the bottom of it all.

                                                                          Comment

Luckily for some these can often overlap like Milan when I was younger or what liverpool fans experience now. I know when I was younger I'd have always chosen to watch the team I support over an objectively better game but would be the complete opposite now whereby I'd always seek out the best quality game over any other criteria. Irelands national team the only exception to that and probably a massive one at that as they're atrocious to watch.

All my friends came into primary school one Monday and there was a lot of 'my Dad supports Liverpool so I support them', 'my uncle likes Man U so they're my team' etc.

I decided on a more data-driven approach so I went home and asked my Dad who was winning the League. He checked the paper and confirmed it was Ipswich. So into the playground I went the next day and decreed them to be my team. And I have remained loyal to this day.

This error was compounded by the fact that my Liverpool-based, slightly older cousin, lived on the same road as a few of the Liverpool players and would frequently be given bits of gear. These would then be passed onto me as he got newer gear. I always refused to wear them. Probably worth proper money now too.

Clearly this quixotic streak ran in the family as a year or two later my brother selected Watford to be his team. And my father was always a staunch supporter of Waterford, who he used to bunk out of boarding school to go see play.

                                                                                                  There you go.

There does be so much in a sandwich it ends up all over the beast that is trying to eat it. Awful stuff. Mustard is the right choice for sandwiches.

I wish I had a more interesting story/team but other than the spiteful decision to dismiss my step-father's encouragement to support Liverpool by instead going with Man Utd, it has been a dull journey on board the bandwagon.

Top that off with years as a Laker fan, it was a pretty mundane sporting journey.
